-The objective of this work was to evaluate the parasitic fauna of hybrid tambacu (Colossoma macropomum x Piaractus mesopotamicus) from fish farms and the host-parasite relationship. A hundred and fourteen fish were collected from four fish farms in Macapá, in the state of Amapá, Brazil, 80.7% of which were infected by: Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (Ciliophora); Piscinoodinium pillulare (Dinoflagellida); Anacanthorus spatulatus, Notozothecium janauachensis, and Mymarothecium viatorum (Monogenoidea); Neoechinorhynchus buttnerae (Acanthocephala); Cucullanus colossomi (Nematoda); Perulernaea gamitanae (Lernaeidae); and Proteocephalidae larvae (Cestoda). A total of 8,136,252 parasites were collected from the examined fish. This is the first record of N. buttnerae, C. colossomi, N. janauachensis, M. viatorum, and Proteocephalidae for hybrid tambacu in Brazil. Ichthyophthirius multifiliis was the most prevalent parasite, whereas endohelminths were the less. A positive correlation was observed between number of I. multifiliis and total length and weight of fish, as well as between number of P. gamitanae and total length. The infection by I. multifiliis had association with the parasitism by Monogenoidea. Low water quality contributes to high parasitism of hybrid tambacu by ectoparasites, which, however, does not influence the relative condition factor of fish.Index terms: Colossoma macropomum, Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Piaractus mesopotamicus, ectoparasite, native fish, host-parasite relationship. Parasitofauna no híbrido tambacu de pisciculturasResumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a parasitofauna de tambacu (Colossoma macropomum x Piaractus mesopotamicus) de pisciculturas e a relação parasito-hospedeiro. Data on the ontogeny of the posterior haptor of monogeneans were obtained from more than 150 publications and summarised. These data were plotted into diagrams showing evolutionary capacity levels based on the theory of a progressive evolution of marginal hooks, anchors and other attachment components of the posterior haptor in the Monogenea (Malmberg, 1986). 5 + 5 unhinged marginal hooks are assumed to be the most primitive monogenean haptoral condition. Thus the diagrams were founded on a 5 + 5 unhinged marginal hook evolutionary capacity level, and the evolutionary capacity levels of anchors and other haptoral attachement components were arranged according to haptoral ontogenetical sequences. In the final "plotting diagram" data on hosts, type of spermatozoa, oncomiracidial ciliation, sensilla pattern and protonephridial systems were also included. In this way a number of correlations were revealed. Thus, for example, the number of 5 + 5 marginal hooks correlates with the most primitive monogenean type of spermatozoon and with few sensillae, many ciliated cells and a simple protonephridial system in the oncomiracidium. On the basis of the reviewed data it is concluded that the ancient monogeneans with 5 + 5 unhinged marginal hooks were divided into two main lines, one retaining unhinged marginal hooks and the other evolving hinged marginal hooks. Both main lines have recent representatives at different marginal hook evolutionary capacity levels, i.e. monogeneans retaining a haptor with only marginal hooks. For the main line with hinged marginal hooks the name Articulonchoinea n. subclass is proposed. Members with 8 + 8 hinged marginal hooks only are here called Proanchorea n. superord. Monogeneans with unhinged marginal hooks only are here called Ananchorea n. superord, and three new families are erected for its recent members: Anonchohapteridae n. tam., Acolpentronidae n. tam. and Anacanthoridae n. tam. (with 7 + 7, 8 + 8 and 9 + 9 unhinged marginal hooks, respectively). Except for the families of Articulonchoinea (e.g. Acanthocotylidae, Gyrodactylidae, Tetraonchoididae) Bychowsky's (1957) division of the Monogenea into the Oligonchoinea and Polyonchoinea fits the proposed scheme, i.e. monogeneans with unhinged marginal hooks form one old group, the Oligonchoinea, which have 5 + 5 unhinged marginal hooks, and the other group form the Polyonchoinea, which (with the exception of the Hexabothriidae) has a greater number (7 + 7, 8 + 8 or 9 + 9) of unhinged marginal hooks. It is proposed that both these names, Oligonchoinea (sensu mihi) and Polyonchoinea (sensu mihi), will be retained on one side and Articulonchoinea placed on the other side, which reflects the early monogenean evolution. Patologia de peixes da Amazônia Brasileira, 1. Aspectos gera1sResumo Alguns aspectos gerais da patologia de peixes ama· zônicos são apresentados, e os princípios que governam as doenças em peixes mencionados, tais como : a) peixes amazônicos estão pouco expostos à poluição in· dustrial, mas podem ocorrer mortalidades grandes provocadas pela combinação de quedas na temperat ura am· biental e a decomposição de matéria vegetal; b) os peixes que morrem primeiro são aqueles que têm in· fecções nas brânquias; c) deve esperar-se pouca pato· genia óbvia nos peixes recentemente capturados porque um peixe doente é rapidamente eliminado pelos preda· dores; e d) a patogenia pode ser estudada por meio de um levantamento de parasitas e outros fatores nos pei· xes na natureza, e depois, por observações dos efeitos dos mesmos em cativeiro. Foram apresentados os mecanismos de defesa utilizados pelos peixes amazônicos contra: 1) corpos estranhos; 2) fungos; 3) mixoesporí-deos; 4) monogéneos; 5) trematódaos digenéticos; 6) cestodários; 7) cestóides; 8) acantocP.falos; 9) nemató· deos; 10) crustáceos e 11) pentastomídeos, e exemplos destes são citados do Amazonas . São mencionadas a presença da doença das manchas pretas e três variedades da doença das manchas amarelas na região . O nematódeo, Goezia spinulosa, já reconhecido como um perigo para a piscicultura, também é citado na Amazô-nia . O trematódeo parasita do olho, Diplostomum, o qual pode ser patogênico e fatal para o peixe e para o homem, foi encontrado em dois hospedairos. Um caso de adipose dentro do coração é citado de um pirarucu, Arapaima gigas . Já que o peixe tinha sido mantido num aquário pequeno por mais de um ano, é possível que uma insuficiência de exercício causou esta anomalia .
