Abstract

In consequence of the recent scientific progress and the structural development of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA), an institution sponser'ed by the National Research Council of Brazil the publication policy of the Institute had to be reformulated. Until 1970, research papers of the INPA-staff and visiting scientists were published in the BOLETIM DO INPA (Series : Pesquisas Florestais (Forestry Research). Patologia Tropical (Tropical Medicine), and Tecnologia (Technology), the Cadernos da Amazonia and various miscellanous publications. From now on, the interdisciplinary journal ACTA AMAZÔNICA will take over the former publications to concentrate the scientific efforts of the INPA-staff and visiting scientists in only one publishing organ. This will facilitate the availability of research papers on the Amazonian environment for libraries, government agencies, institutions and scientists.
