Introducción: En la actualidad, una mala proyección del rendimiento de la mano de obra en el sector de la construcción puede provocar: 1) un retraso en la ejecución de los proyectos, 2) incrementar el costo de ejecución y 3) causar malestar por incumplimiento de contratos. Objetivo: Realizar una proyección del rendimiento de mano de obra en las excavaciones a mano en la ciudad de Cuenca-Ecuador. Metodología: La presente investigación es de tipo: “Estudio de caso” pues se va a analizar y caracterizar un tema en específico, en este caso: el rendimiento de mano de obra en excavaciones a mano de 6 obras emplazadas en la ciudad de Cuenca a través de la recolección de datos inherentes a la temática propuesta. Resultados: Entre los principales resultados obtenidos, se determinó que los 13 indicadores utilizados presentaron correlación con el rendimiento, pero en diferentes niveles de significancia. Se modela una fórmula estadística basada en la regresión lineal para realizar una predicción con un porcentaje de confianza del 91% y se evidenció que: los indicadores de: tipo de suelo, estatura de los empleados y sueldo tienen las mayores representaciones sobre el cálculo del rendimiento final. Conclusión: se puede obtener un nivel de confianza del 96% al predecir el rendimiento en actividades de excavaciones a mano. Aunque no todas las variables independientes afectan de igual manera al rendimiento calculado, el tipo de suelo demostró ser estadísticamente significativo (p≤0.001) de forma individual. The present study uses a bibliometric and systematic literature review (SLR) to examine the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Digital Twins (DT) in the construction industry. The network visualization and other approaches based on the Web of Science (WOS) database and the patterns of research interactions were explored in 1879 academic publications using co-occurrence and co-citation investigations. Significant publications, conferences, influential authors, countries, organizations, and funding agencies have been recognized. Our study demonstrates that BIM, IoT, and DT in construction, Heritage BIM (HBIM), Smart Contracts, BIM, and Ontology, and VR and AR in BIM and DT are the main study themes. Finally, several prospective areas for future study are identified, including BIM and Metaverse technology, BIM and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Metaheuristic algorithms for optimization purposes in BIM, and the Circular Economy with BIM and IoT.

Analyzing the Level of Detail of Construction Schedule for Enabling Site Logistics Planning (SLP) in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Environment

As Building Information Modeling (BIM) becomes the predominant technology in the construction industry, contractors, amongst other activities, need to conduct Site Logistics Planning (SLP) in the BIM environment during different project phases. 4D BIM modelling is an important step towards developing BIM models ready for the construction execution phase. However, in developing such models, currently no standard exist which would guide contractors towards a thorough analyses of site logistics. Moreover, there is a scarcity of studies and research on level of detail of construction schedules, which makes SLP hard to implement in a BIM environment. We addressed this problem by employing a case-study method for understanding how 4D BIM models should be designed to enable effective SLP and dynamic site layout creation. The results show that the following input data for SLP in the BIM environment is needed: hierarchically structured 3D BIM model, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), detail schedule, resources constraints, and defined onsite temporary facilities. Additionally, we have found that the activities should be further divided into work operations to enable SLP. Our results enable contractors to create a dynamic site layout according to the BIM principles. Moreover, the findings are an initial step for the further standardization of the BIM model for the SLP in the BIM environment.
