How It All Began: Women’s Worlds Congress and International Network

Abstract

Presented by the founder and Chair of the First Women’s Worlds, held in Israel in 1981-82, this article historicizes the development of this international interdisciplinary congress up to its 13th edition in Brazil. It also discusses the creation of the Worldwide Organization of Women’s Studies (WOWS) and the close relationship it bears with the pre- and post-conference coordination.
