Os negros d’água do rio Ribeira de Iguape: mito e história numa narrativa elaborada por comunidades negras do Vale do Ribeira

Abstract: RESUMO Este artigo aborda a importância das águas do rio Ribeira de Iguape para a história do Vale do Ribeira. Suas águas foram exploradas desde o século XVI, quando da sua foz partiam expedições em busca de metais. Posteriormente, metais preciosos foram descobertos no Alto e no Médio Vale, onde se estabeleceram arraiais mineradores.
