Basic Life Support: an accessible tool in layperson training

Abstract: SUMMARY OBJECTIVES 1) To evaluate the efficiency of a new method of training laypeople on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). 2) To assess previous knowledge of the participants. METHODS Instructors were trained according to the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines, with emphasis on CPR. “…There is evidence of mortality reduction in CRP victims who received CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) maneuvers immediately by volunteers, leading to the protection of cardiac and neurological functions 18,19,20 . In a CRP situation, time is a substantial component since, according to the estimates, every minute of CRP equals 10% less of the probability of survival 20,21 .…”

Basic life support (BLS) is a very important concept, and people should be able to do it correctly if they are trained to do so.…”

“…Bonizzio et al 1 stated that there was no significant difference in knowledge between health care professionals and laypeople. This finding is really important because we assume that health care professionals would be better at BLS.…”
