The Structure-Soil-Structure Interaction Effects on the Response of the Neighbouring Frame Structures

Abstract: The Structure-Soil-Structure Interaction (SSSI) phenomenon between the neighbouring structures has been interested lesser than Soil-Structure Interaction. However, in urban environments, the structures have to be constructed in the neighbourhood, and it is inevitable that these structures affect each other's responses. This study examines the Structure-Soil-Structure Interaction effects on the response of the neighbouring frame structures. In this context, firstly the effects of the consideration of the underl… Show more

“…Liang et al [16] investigated 2D SSSI interaction for two identical vibrating structures in layered half-space. Ada et al [17] studied the effects of SSSI on the response of two adjacent frame structures. Felipe et al [18] explored the influence of structure-soil-structure interaction (SSSI) between a pair of buildings, one of which was unsymmetrical in plan.…”

“…The development of computer programs made it possible to model soil-structure interaction problems, and consequently, to obtain more accurate results about the stability of a structural system. Several soil-structure interactions methods for numerical modeling, indicating their benefits and limitations, as well as the computer programs available for such analysis are proposed in the literature, to quote Ritter et al (2020), Pavan et al (2014), Marques et al (2021), Ada and Ayvaz (2019), Ingle (2001, 2008), Chore et al (2009), Saha et al (2020), Dutta and Roy (2002), Garg and Hora (2012), Yesane et al, (2016) and Darbandsari and Kashani (2018).…”

“…The non-linear dynamic centrifuge tests were accurately validated by a comprehensive non-linear niteelement model. Furthermore, Ada et al (2019) have investigated the (SSSI) effect between two neighbouring frame structures through a series of 3D numerical analysis. They have examined the in uences of the stiffness of the underlying soil, layout of the structures, the clear distance between the structures, and the number of stories of the structures.…”
