Experimental Tests on Bending Behavior of Profiled Steel Sheeting Dry Board Composite Floor with Geopolymer Concrete Infill

Abstract: Profiled Steel Sheet Dry Board (PSSDB) system is a lightweight composite structure comprises Profiled Steel Sheeting and Dry Board connected by self-drilling and self-tapping screws. This study introduced geopolymer concrete, an eco-friendly material without cement content as an infill material in the PSSDB floor system to highlight its effect onto the PSSDB (with full and halfsize dry boards) floor system's stiffness and strength. Experimental tests on various full scale PSSDB floor specimens were conducted u… Show more

“…The curve relationships observed in all the panel specimens tested were almost linear initially and subsequently became non-linear as a load was added continuously. The non-linear characteristics observed in all the load-deflection plots are due to the load buckling of the under compression as described in section 3.2 [19]. It can be seen that the panel specimen without foamed concrete developed local buckling only at the mid-span position.…”

“…The result shows that the mid-span deflection of the panel has reduced to 52% and 107% increase in rigidity compared with those of the control (without infill). It also illustrates that the rigidity of PSSDB with a halfsize dry board filled with geopolymer concrete increases by 43% relative to that of the PSSDB with full-size filled normal concrete [13]. Steel plates can be considered an economic solution to enhance the structural behavior of the PSSDB system.…”

“…In addition, three steel coupons were prepared, using steel PSS and C-Purlins, and tested in accordance with ASTM E8/E8M-2009. This study used the same Primaflex DB sheet that was used in [ 7 , 9 , 10 ]. Table 3 presents the properties of these materials (C-Purlins, PSS, DB, and concrete mixtures).…”

“…Later, several researchers tested the PSSDB system adopted in the floors, walls, and roofs of residential and commercial buildings [ 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 ]. The influence of filling a one-way PSSDB slab with geopolymer and normal concrete was experimentally investigated [ 7 , 8 ]. In addition, Al-Shaikhli et al [ 9 , 10 ] studied the bending behavior of concrete-filled PSSDB slabs using the two-way slab concept.…”
