The objective of this study was evaluated the thermal comfort indexes and physiological parameters in Santa Inês and crossbreed ewes in Brazilian semiarid. The research was developed at experimental station Benjamin Maranhão, twenty non pregnant female sheep were used, 10 pure and 10 crossbreed (½ Dorper + ½ Santa Inês), averaging 26.7 ± 2.1 kg and with 150 days of age at the beginning of the study and confined in a covered sheepfold. A completely randomized design in a 2 x 2 factorial scheme (two genotypes and two shifts) with four treatments and five repetitions was used. The interior and exterior thermal comfort indexes were, most of the day, above the thermal comfort zone for sheep. The rectal temperature, superficial temperature, respiratory rate and cardiac rate was more elevated in the afternoon, and the Santa Inês animals showed in the mornings low rectal temperature values, as well as superficial temperature, respiratory and cardiac rate when compared to the crossbreed.

The objective of this study was to obtain information with scientific validity regarding the probable physiological alterations that sheep may suffer in the period prior to slaughter and its relationship with welfare conditions and maintenance of homeostasis. Twenty-nine castrated male lambs were used, clinically healthy, with no defined breed, and aged up to one year. Before slaughter, the heart and respiratory frequencies were measured, as well as the rectal temperature. At the time of bleeding, a blood sample was collected for analysis of hematological parameters (lactic acid, glucose, hematocrit). The mean value found for the rectal temperature was 39.30 ± 0.45 °C, for respiratory rate of 64.10 ± 28.52mov/min, heart rate of 106.90 ± 30.57bat/min, lactic acid of 4.81 ± 1.04mmol/L, glucose of 69.79 ± 10.33mg/dL and hematocrit of 38.93 ± 3.28%. The database analysis showed a low and positive correlation between respiratory rate and rectal temperature. It was concluded that lambs kept at high temperatures showed an increase in respiratory and cardiac frequencies, as well as an intensification of the stress condition reflected by the increase in plasma lactic acid levels.

A secretaria de agricultura regional é um órgão responsável por prestar assistência ao produtor rural, difundindo conhecimentos e contribuindo no desenvolvimento de políticas voltadas ao setor de produtos, na promoção e divulgação das potencialidades do município e, atuando na fiscalização e comércio de produtos oriundos da agropecuária municipal. O objetivo do estudo foi descrever as atribuições da secretaria de agricultura municipal de Ipubi-PE, com foco no apoio aos agropecuaristas e, principalmente na fiscalização das atividades realizadas no abatedouro público municipal. As atividades desenvolvidas na secretaria de agricultura municipal de Ipubi-PE e no abatedouro público municipal, foram acompanhadas no período de 05 de abril a 23 de junho de 2021, totalizando 330 horas. Durante esse período foram abatidos 687 animais, e as principais causas de condenação foram contusões, prenhez, exaustão e baixo escore de condição corporal apresentado pelo animal. A partir do acompanhamento das atividades junto a secretaria de agricultura do município de Ipubi -PE, observou-se que, manter qualidade e segurança alimentar humana, tem sido um grande desafio na cadeia produtiva da carne. É possível avaliar a importância da prevenção de zoonoses veiculadas por alimentos, bem como a educação sanitária que os produtores devem adotar.
