Causes of death in domestic cats during COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021): A multi-institutional necropsy study from Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Abstract: Retrospective studies that address the diseases in the feline species are scarce. Herein, we presented the cause of death or euthanasia of cats from January 2020 to December 2021, during the first and second years of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The data were obtained from necropsies performed by the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal University of Mato Grosso. A total of 96 feline necropsies were performed.
