Show more

“…Although the diversity of wasps is certainly higher and more sampled in the present study, the number of bee species known to Mato Grosso do Sul indicates that this group is best studied at this moment (Auko & silvestre 2013;Moure et al 2013;Auko et al 2017;liMA & silvestre 2017;luz et al 2017;shiMbori et al 2017;trAd & silvestre 2017).…”

“…The habitat of Losada species is still little known, but crabronid species build their nests with mud where they usually store several relatively small spiders which will be consumed later by her brood (gonzAgA 2010), and until now apparently having only been found in preserved environments of the Amazon and Pantanal biomes (AMArAnte 2002). Furthermore, the Agelaia pallipes social wasp has the habit of making its nests in soil cavities (soMAvillA et al 2012) and was also previously registered in the Pantanal dry season (Auko et al 2017), as well as in the larger part of Brazil (oliveirA et al 2022). Auplopus comparatus is exclusively a hunter of spiders, generally of species associated with the ground (e.g., Ctenizidae, Lycosidae, Teraphosidae).…”

“…This may be a reflection of species having small and cryptic colonies, which makes their registration difficult [27] , especially in a dense forest environment as in the areas of the present study, a type of environment that makes it difficult to register colonies for all wasp genera, which may explain the results obtained [26] . The species registered in this study are widely distributed in Brazil [10] , such us: Brachygastra lecheguana that occurs in Cerrado areas in the states of Mato Grosso [28] , Mato Grosso do Sul [29] and in Minas Gerais [30] , being that, in this last one, the species also occurs in deciduous forest [31] ; Mischocyttarus cerberus that occurs in Caatinga in the Ceará State [32] and agricultural areas associated with semideciduous forest in Minas Gerais [33] . On the other hand, Mischocyttarus frontalis has record only in perennial forests in Minas Gerais State [26] and in the states of Goiás and Mato Grosso [10] .…”

“…The sampling retrieved lower richness for EAP when compared to these studies, being the Amazonian study (Silveira et al 2008) with 14 species. In Cerrado, all surveys are from the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, having Auko & Silvestre (2013) recorded 20 species, Grandinete & Noll (2013), 21 species and Auko et al (2017) recorded 66 species for several points in the State (some points comprising Chaco and not Cerrado), being the most species rich point with 30 species. As for the study in Atlantic Forest (Hermes & Köhler 2004), 37 species were recorded.…”
