A serapilheira desempenha diversas funções essenciais nos ecossistemas florestais, como a redução da erosão do solo, isolamento térmico, retenção de água, contribuição para o ciclo de nutrientes e criação de nichos ecológicos. Formada pela deposição de materiais orgânicos no solo, sua decomposição regula o ciclo do carbono, armazenando-o e ajudando na redução do CO2 atmosférico, fundamental para a regulação climática. Para compreender melhor seu papel no ecossistema, foi realizado levantamento de artigos científicos em três bases de dados, sobre serapilheira na Floresta Atlântica, publicados até o ano de 2019. A análise dos estudos foi centrada na avaliação das décadas de publicação, identificação dos periódicos de maior relevância e análise das temáticas abordadas nos mesmos. Foram encontrados 393 artigos de 1987 a 2019, categorizados em 11 classes de estudo. A classe mais representativa foi a dos invertebrados, contemplada principalmente por artrópodes como aranhas, besouros, formigas, gafanhotos, crustáceo terrestre, cupins e escorpiões, com foco na alimentação, distribuição, ecologia, inventário, predação e interações com a serapilheira edáfica. A classe dos vertebrados teve os anfíbios como o grupo mais estudado, com ênfase significativa em sua dieta e ocupação de diferentes micro-habitats na floresta. A classe “ciclagem de nutrientes” se concentrou em sua dinâmica, na avaliação da fertilidade do solo por meio da queda de serapilheira, bem como nos componentes químicos e bioquímicos, como o carbono e nitrogênio na biomassa do solo, relacionados à decomposição das folhas. A classe “ambientes aquáticos” abordou a ecologia de macroinvertebrados bentônicos, fungos e a ciclagem de nutrientes neste ambiente. Ademais, os resultados deste estudo destacaram diferentes tendências de pesquisa sobre serapilheira na Floresta Atlântica brasileira, com foco na macrofauna edáfica e nos anfíbios. Houve um aumento significativo na pesquisa sobre serapilheira na década de 2010, destacando seu crescente interesse e importância ecológica. Os resultados têm implicações para a compreensão da biodiversidade e dinâmica dos ecossistemas na Floresta Atlântica, enfatizando a necessidade de políticas de conservação e manejo sustentável mais eficazes. No entanto, o estudo tem limitações, como a falta de pesquisa sobre os fatores abióticos na deposição de serapilheira, uma área subexplorada na literatura atual.

The multifunctional diversity in agroecosystems must be studied from systemic and comprehensive approaches of non-parametric analysis. This article provides a new beta diversity index and biomathematical equations that quantify the agroecological multifunctional entropy of biodiversity. Ten agroecosystems were studied in: Boaco, Carazo, Chinandega, Estelí and Matagalpa. Agroecosystem approaches were conventional versus agroecological. The organisms captured were at 25 points per agroecosystem, for a total of 225 points. The macrofauna surface was identified over 3.1416 m2, in the center a soil monolith of 0.01875 m3 was explored. The data of the analysis required three visions: the first vision is abundance and functional richness forming the Gangia index by inductive method. The second vision is applying antiderivatives together with the Cartesian plane. The third vision is obtaining a global score. In the agroecosystems, 44 families of macrofauna were observed, 32 of them exerted negative functionality: Scarabaeidae, Chrysomelidae, Elateridae, Formicidae and Gryllidae. The families with positive functionality were 12: Lumbricidae, Sthaphylinidae, Rhynotermitidae and Theridiidae. The most important negative function was phytophagous. The positive functions in order of taxonomic richness were: detritivores, predators, omnivores and soil engineers. With the antiderivatives by taxonomic family, polygonal areas were created. The Boaco´s agroecosystems obtained the largest polygonal area with 735 384.5027 u2. The Gangia index of beta diversity was always higher where a greatest number of taxonomic families prevailed exerting positive functions. The Boaco´s agroecosystems obtained the highest value of the Gangia index of beta diversity with 13.72 points.

Abstract:Although new methods and data are conquering space in the field of taxonomy, such as integrative taxonomy, most of the terrestrial isopod species are still described based only on morphology. Species of the genus Atlantoscia Ferrara & Taiti, 1981 were the first and are the unique terrestrial isopods from the Neotropics for which a molecular phylogeny was already conducted. Previous results indicated that this genus could be paraphyletic, and a more detailed analysis would be required. Our aim was to reconstruct the phylogeny of Atlantoscia using mitochondrial and nuclear markers and test its monophyly by integrating molecular and morphological data. We observed that, indeed, Atlantoscia is paraphyletic. Atlantoscia ituberasensis Campos-Filho, Lisboa & Araujo, 2013 and Atlantoscia rubromarginata Araujo & Leistikow, 1999 were placed in a new genus of terrestrial isopods, Paratlantoscia gen. nov., together with a new species described in the present study, Paratlantoscia robusta sp. nov. The new genus is defined by the presence of specialized respiratory areas in the pleopod exopods and its validity is highly corroborated by molecular analyses and by biogeographic information. This study highlights the importance of multiple and complementary perspectives as a way to improve the quality of species hypothesis and associated descriptions. al. 2013; Grummer et al. 2014). Due to practical and historical reasons most species were primarily described based on morphology for most part of our history (Padial et al. 2010).Nonetheless, new methods and data are conquering space in taxonomy. For example, assigning groups of organisms to species is one of the most challenging aspects of phylogenetic studies (Coyne and Orr 2004).One of these new approaches is integrative taxonomy. It integrates information from different sources (usually from morphological and molecular data) to delimit and describe taxa. The result is improved rigor in species delimitation, which is its ultimate goal as well (Marshall et al. 2006; Schilick-Steiner et al. 2010;Castalanelli et al. 2017). Integrative taxonomy has gained many supporters in recent years, especially because this approach has been proved to be effective in solving systematic issues in a variety of groups (e.g., Castro-Romero et al. 2016;Decker et al. 2016;Ekimova et al. 2016; Hernandez-Orts et al. 2017; Mazancourt et al. 2017), thus improving the quality of species hypothesis and associated descriptions (Pante et al. 2015). In this context, terrestrial isopods (Oniscidea) are an interesting group, since the majority of the species are still described based only on morphology, even though in many cases morphological characters do not provide a clear taxonomic resolution (Schmalfuss 2003).
