Epitheliotropic lymphoma with heart and kidney metastasis in a dog: case report

Abstract: A female adult dog, with a four-month history of pain and intense pruritus, which eventually resulted in sudden death, was referred for necropsy. Postmortem examination showed thoracic and abdominal serumsanguineous exudates, multifocal infiltrative renal masses, and similar tumors in the heart. Histopathology revealed midsize infiltrative neoplastic proliferation composed of round cells, sparse cytoplasm, and large hyperchromatic nuclei. Immunohistochemistry revealed CD3+ and CD20-immunoexpression. Histopatho… Show more

“…However, few studies have shown the occurrence of primary skin lymphoma in other organs. There is a description of a case of cutaneous lymphoma with metastasis to the heart and kidneys with progression to paraneoplastic syndrome and death of the patient [1]. The majority of non-epitheliotropic skin lymphomas exhibit rapid progression and infiltration into lymph nodes and subsequent systemic involvement [2], which corroborates the evolution of the animal reported here.…”

“…The material was submitted to immunohistochemical examination, immunoexpressing CD3 antibody 1 and there was no marking of CD79a 1 , MUM1 1 , CD1a 2 , E-Cadherin 3 and C-Kit 3 . The immunohistochemical and morphological profile favored the diagnosis of non-epitheliotropic T-lymphoma.…”
