Fixation of pfcrt chloroquine resistance alleles in Plasmodium falciparum clinical isolates collected from unrest tribal agencies of Pakistan

Abstract: Plasmodium falciparum resistance to Chloroquine (CQ) is a significant cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. There is a paucity of documented data on the prevalence of CQ-resistant mutant haplotypes of Pfcrt and Pfmdr1 genes from malaria-endemic war effected Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan.
