Morphological and molecular identification of Cladosporium sphaerospermum isolates collected from tomato plant residues

Abstract: This study was conducted at the Agriculture College University of Karbala, Iraq to isolate and morphologically and molecularly diagnose thirteen Cladosporium isolates collected from tomato plant residues present in desert regions of Najaf and Karbala provinces, Iraq. We diagnosed the obtained isolates by PCR amplification using the ITS1 and ITS4 universal primer pair followed by sequencing. PCR amplification and analysis of nucleotide sequences using the BLAST program showed that all isolated fungi belong to C… Show more

“…IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1755-1315/1262/3/032010 9 ranged between 17.00 -30.00%, and the severity of infection ranged between 12.33 -20.66%. These results agree with many studies that concluded that the use of more than one control agent has a greater effect in reducing the percentage and severity of infection with many pathogens through the synergistic action of these factors combined, which have an inhibitory effect on pathogens as well as their role in stimulating systemic resistance In plants against pathogens Through the production of proteins that are related to pathogens and phytoxins, as well as stimulating plant growth through the production of compounds and substances such as growth regulators [46,47]. Beltanol's toxicity to pathogenic fungi results from its ability to generate chelating compounds with copper within the cells of the pathogen, releasing and killing the pathogen in the process [48].…”

“…The genus Cladosporium is the largest genera consisting of different species complex (Bensch et al, 2012;Bensch et al, 2015). Different species of Cladosporium are frequently found in temperate Mediterranean regions as well as in tropical conditions on fruits and vegetables such as grapes and tomatoes (AL-Abedy et al, 2021). They are slow-growing fungi with abundant sporulation and are inhabitants of a wide range of substrates (Bensch et al, 2018;Temperini and Pose, 2018).…”
