The effect of replacement of fish meal with Amino Acids and Optimized Protein Levels in the diet of the Nile Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus

Abstract: This study was conducted to determine an appropriate replacement of fishmeal with amino acids (AAs) and optimized protein levels in practical diets for Oreochromis niloticus with mean initial body weight 12.52±0.63g. Six experimental and a control diet (total 7 diets) divided into two groups, and a control diet (D1) containing 32% protein. The first group contained three diets that included different dietary protein levels, viz. 20 (D2), 25 (D3), and 30% (D4) with AAs when replacing fishmeal by plant protein s… Show more

“…A series of recent studies have indicated that crystalline amino acids optimize growth and protein retention ratio in Nile tilapia (Michelato, de Oliveira Vidal, et al, 2016; Michelato, Zaminhan, et al, 2016; Nguyen et al., 2019, 2020). The key challenge regarding crystalline amino acid supplementation is associated with the rapid absorption compared to protein‐bound amino acids, impairing amino acids utilization (Abdel‐Warith et al., 2019; Brezas & Hardy, 2020). Whit this mind, fish were fed four times daily in the current study to avoid impaired amino acid pools in the plasma and minimize crystalline amino acids lixiviation of feeds (Abdel‐Warith et al., 2019).…”

“…In recent years, researchers and farmers are constantly striving to improve the protein utilization and feed efficiency of diets in order to promote healthy farmed tilapia [7][8][9]. For example, the research on protein requirement of tilapia at different stages, the analysis of the utilization of different protein sources, analysis of the effect of different protein sources and different protein level on the digestive system, the development of various additives to improve the efficiency of protein utilization, and the in-depth analysis of tilapia response to feed protein at the molecular level [10][11][12][13][14].…”

“…It is to be noted that Aquaculture required replacement of fish meal in the preparation of fish diets, especially for non-carnivorous species because of increasing cost day by day. Therefore, in lodge to prepare economic diets, alternative plant protein sources such as grains, pulses and oilseeds are widely used [1]. Positive impacts of good compounds in fish are badly impressed by the presence of toxic compounds in water body and fish body and also have an adverse consequence on human health when humans consume such fishes according to [2].…”
