Abstract:Résumé Cet article propose une lecture du poème Le Gâteau en regard du Discours sur l’origine de l’inégalité parmi les hommes avec lequel Baudelaire discute. Il convoquera aussi un passage très significatif de l’Émile (qui n’a encore jamais retenu l’attention de la critique pour l’interprétation de ce poème) dans lequel Rousseau met en scène la même situation que Baudelaire imagine dans Le Gâteau.
