Intra and intersession repeatability and reliability of dynamic parameters in pressure platform assessments on subjects with simulated leg length discrepancy. A cross-sectional research

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Leg length discrepancy (LLD) may play a key role in exercise biomechanics. Although the Podoprint platform has been used in dynamic pressure studies, there are no data regarding the reliability and repeatability of dynamic measurements under simulated LLD conditions. OBJECTIVES: To determine the intra and intersession repeatability and reliability of dynamic parameters of the Podoprint pressure platform under simulated LLD conditions. DESIGN AND SETTING: Observational cross-sectional study at a pub… Show more

“…In order to capture the dynamic parameters, we used a Podoprint ® platform (Namrol Group, Barcelona, Spain), which, in a previous publication, was used to assess the intra and intersession repeatability and reliability in healthy subjects with simulated LLD [25]. A self-calibrating system, with 1600 10 × 10 mm resistive sensors and a sample rate of 100 Hz, was installed into the center of a flat 4.8 m walkway at ground level (Table 1).…”

“…Plantar pressure measurements are a useful tool for evaluating foot function and identifying patients with gait problems. [1]During human gait, the foot acts passively, cushioning impact forces and actively transferring forces generated by the muscles to propel the body [1][2][3].…”

“…Although the foot can withstand the enormous pressures generated by daily dynamic activities, there are a variety of conditions and deformities that can lead to abnormal plantar pressures [1][2][3]. These increased plantar pressures can cause the underlying skin and bone to degrade, leading to ulcers and stress fractures.…”
