What do Cochrane systematic reviews say about interventions for vitamin D supplementation?

Abstract: CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Despite the high prevalence of vitamin D supplementation, its use remains controversial. outcomes assessed under various conditions, the current quality of evidence is low or unknown, and therefore insufficient for any recommendation. “…A notable example of nearly identical overlap were three vitamin D overviews by Autier [35], Mateussi [36], and Rejnmark [37]. They were categorised as nearly identical based on their similarly general populations and the intervention of vitamin D supplementation.…”

“…No entanto, apesar da ótima função imunomediadora descrita acima, isso não parece se refletir em melhora terapêutica estatisticamente comprovada para muitos autores (Luo et al, 2015;Fares et al, 2015;Mateussi et al, 2017). Em nossos resultados não encontramos um padrão estabelecido sobre qual a dose suplementada ou nível plasmático mínimo de VD para que esta relação seja terapêutica.…”

“…The problem is the cost-effectiveness in universal application [171], but in 2013 a group of experts identified vitamin D as a critical intervention that might have a potential impact on reducing the risk of adverse perinatal outcomes worldwide [172]. Vitamin D supplementation in pregnancy remains a possible intervention that may improve pregnancy outcomes by preventing the occurrence of preeclampsia, GDM, low birth weight, and preterm birth [102,173]. In an outstanding review from 2014, Wei supported this thesis [49].…”
