Transcriptional profiling of uterine leiomyoma rats treated by a traditional herb pair, Curcumae rhizoma and Sparganii rhizoma

Abstract: The aim of this study was to elucidate the concise effects of a traditional herb pair, Curcumae rhizoma-Sparganii rhizoma (CRSR), on uterine leiomyoma (UL) by analyzing transcriptional profiling. The UL rat model was made by intramuscular injection of progesterone and gavage administration of diethylstilbestrol. From 11 weeks of the establishment of the model, rats of the UL+CRSR group were gavaged daily with CRSR (6.67 g/kg). The serum concentrations of progesterone (P) and estradiol (E… Show more

“…40 Also, 95% and 60% ethanol extraction, respectively, were used in two of the studies. [41][42] The methods of treatment administration also varied from intragastrical/gavage [42][43] to intraperitoneal. 41 In some of these studies, more than one plant was used jointly, whether as a measured concoction, or a mixture to test the synergistic effects of the combined plants.…”

“…From this review, Anthocyanins, 50 Quercetin, indole-3-carbinol, 100 and joint Curcumae rhizoma-Sparganii rhizoma (CRSR) herb extracts inhibited ECM components (fibronectin, versican, and collagen1A1). 42 Resveratrol also regulated fibronectin, © 2021 the authors. “…Our previous studies have shown that the therapeutic effects of RCRS on UL include improving pathological status, reducing volume, and inhibiting myoma cell proliferation (Yu et al, 2014). Another study showed that the therapeutic effect of RCRS on UL may be related to the regulation of endocrine levels (Yu et al, 2019). The results of metabolomics prove that RCRS can reverse the abnormal metabolism in rats.…”

“…Our previous studies have confirmed that the therapeutic effects of RCRS on UL include improvement of pathological status, reduction of volume, and inhibition of myoma cell proliferation ( 7 ). Another study showed that the therapeutic effect of RCRS on UL might be related to the regulation of endocrine levels ( 8 ). The results of a metabolomics study confirmed that RCRS can reverse abnormal metabolism in rats.…”
