Cytokine profile and lymphocyte subsets in type 2 diabetes

Abstract: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) is a metabolic disease with inflammation as an important pathogenic background. However, the pattern of immune cell subsets and the cytokine profile associated with development of T2D are unclear. The objective of this study was to evaluate different components of the immune system in T2D patients' peripheral blood by quantifying the frequency of lymphocyte subsets and intracellular pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine production by T cells. Clinical data and blood samples were co… Show more

“…Another anti-cancer effect of metformin in type 2 diabetes may involve in inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Accumulation of adipose tissue induces inflammation response and increases production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-18 [40]. Each of these pro-inflammatory cytokines may play an etiologic role in gastric cancer initiation and progression [41].…”

“…За лiтературними даними бiльшiсть про-ведених дослiджень присвяченi вивченню активностi маркерiв запального процесу та протизапальних цитокiнiв у хворих з iзо-льованим ЦД 2 типу та їх результати спiв-падають з нашими [11][12][13][14][15]. Роботи, в яких когорту обстежуваних складали пацiєнти з поєднанням ЦД 2 типу та IХС [16,17], за бiльшiстю показникiв, зокрема рiвнем IЛ-6, ФНП-α та СРБ, вiдповiдають результатам нашого дослiдження i пiдтверджують їх ви-щу концентрацiю порiвняно з особами кон-трольної групи.…”

“…It is well documented that chronic hyperglycaemia dysregulates T cell function [ 23 , 24 ]; however, the underlying mechanisms remain controversial. In fact, contradictory findings of both elevated [ 13 , 25 27 ] and decreased [ 28 ] levels of T cell activation have been reported in hyperglycaemic individuals.…”
