Show more

“…The sound pressure level across the frequency spectrum at one moment in time is typically averaged using Z-weighting (equal across all frequencies) or A- or C-weighting (weighting curves designed to represent human hearing at low and high sound levels, respectively). Different measures provide relevant information for different types of application ( 4 , 8 , 14 , 15 ).…”

“…Apart from the basic function of moving people from one place to another, bicycle transport has many additional functions [11,12], including tourism, recreation, sports, and health. Due to the location of bicycle paths in cities, often in the vicinity of roads used by cars, the problems of polluted air and noise have also been the subject of research [13][14][15][16][17][18].…”

“…The majority of research on this subject has been published since 2015, suggesting an increase in concern for environmental factors related to cycling perhaps due to renewed global drives to increase the modal share [ 8 ] or advances in the development of low-cost, increasingly smart mobile technologies in the past decade [ 27 ]. Indeed, many studies have used portable noise sensors, for example [ 14 , 28 , 29 ], carried by research staff of the relative projects on predefined routes [ 12 , 13 , 29 , 30 ]. This reflects the frequent objective of simply monitoring city-level noise pollution rather than examining the experiences of people who choose to cycle.…”
