Guidelines emphasize the importance of approaching substance use by adolescents, particularly in primary health care. However, there are problems with its incorporation. The objective of this study was to present the training stages on the theme for professionals in primary health care. Researchers conducted logistic structuring, content elaboration and evaluation of difficulties before and after training. Sixty percent of professionals involved in the care of adolescents in a medium-sized city participated in the study. More than half of them stated having difficulties in the approach, mainly theoretical limitations and short consultations. After the training, the professionals informed whether they felt more prepared, but practical difficulties remained.

RESUMO Objetivo: identificar os instrumentos validados e relacionados ao o consumo de drogas em adolescentes. Método: revisão integrativa que incluiu estudos sobre a elaboração e validação ou avaliação das propriedades psicométricas de instrumentos para a análise do consumo de drogas por adolescentes nas línguas portuguesa, inglesa e espanhola. Busca realizada nas bases de dados: MEDLINE, LILACS, SCOPUS, CINAHL, COCHRANE e Web of Science. Para tal, cruzaram-se os descritores “Estudos de Validação”, “Estudos de validação como assunto”, “adolescente” e “transtornos relacionados ao uso de substâncias psicoativas”. Foram resgatados 743 artigos e após o processo de seleção e análise do rigor metodológico, um total de 11 compuseram esta revisão. A coleta de dados foi realizada com auxílio de instrumento validado e os resultados foram categorizados com base nos objetivos dos testes. Resultados: identificaram-se dez instrumentos: cinco questionários, um inventário e quatro escalas. Os instrumentos abordaram o risco, uso/abuso de substâncias psicoativas e questões relativas ao tratamento. Dois apresentaram maior confiabilidade: ASTEQ-COUNSELOR e o DCI-A-SF. Conclusão: foram sumarizadas informações sobre dez instrumentos validados e voltados para o consumo de drogas em adolescentes. Estes permitem a mensuração e a identificação do consumo de drogas e de aspectos relacionados ao tratamento para problemas decorrentes do uso dessas substâncias. Duas ferramentas foram tidas como as mais confiáveis por apresentaram melhores valores de alfa para os itens individualmente e em conjunto, ASTEQ-COUNSELOR e o DCI-A-SF. Dispor de instrumentos de mensuração confiáveis auxilia a pesquisa e a práxis do enfermeiro.

The attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has a complex etiology, involving the interaction between biological, genetic, and environmental factors. The ADHD pathophysiology remains unknown even though there are hypotheses that inflammatory, hormonal, oxidative and neurotrophic factors are associated. This clinical trial aims to evaluate the contribution of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), inflammatory and oxidative levels before and after 12 and 24 weeks of methylphenidate use.MethodsPatients will be screened upon their entry into Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Teaching Outpatient Clinic of the Medical Course at the Federal University of Viçosa in Minas Gerais, Brazil. One hundred and fifty ADHD treatment-naïve children of both sexes, between 6–14 years old, will be invited to participate, after the ADHD diagnosis by an experienced psychiatrist and the child fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Children and their caregivers will answer questionnaires regarding mental health and the children will undergo neuropsychological tests, physical, nutritional and activity assessment, in addition to blood sampling at baseline, 12 and 24 weeks of methylphenidate use respectively.DiscussionThis clinical trial intends to verify how the pharmacological treatment changes the plasma BDNF, inflammatory and oxidative levels in treatment-naïve Brazilian children diagnosed for ADHD.Trial RegistrationSubmitted for registration on Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (ReBEC).
