Numerical Prediction of Bubble Size and Interfacial Area Concentration in the Liquid Bath of an Entrained-Flow Coal Gasifier

Abstract: -A CFD-ABND coupling model was used to study the flow characteristic of gas-liquid two-phase flow in the process of gas passing through the liquid bath of a water-coal-slurry entrained-flow gasifier. In this model, an average bubble number density (ABND) approach was employed and merged with the two-fluid model. A two-phase version of the RNG k-ε turbulence model was used for the liquid and gas, respectively. Comparisons of computational results with experimental data are done. The results show that the gas ga… Show more

“…However, few studies have investigated particle distribution and separation performance in the particle-containing washing chamber with a top-submerged jet. [11] To date, most studies on the multiphase flows in washing chambers have focused on the gas holdup distribution, [9,10] gas bubble size, [8,12] liquid film, [13,14] and liquid droplets. [10,15] Therefore, this study of the hydromechanics in a washing chamber containing a gas-liquid-solid flow is important in terms of both theoretical significance and practical application.…”
