PurposeThis research analyzes the current knowledge regarding the use of maturity models (MMs) in SSCM, aiming to identify the main characteristics, trends and research gaps on the subject. Facing the growing interest in carrying out studies directed at sustainability, to the detriment of more prescient environmental and social impacts and the need to consolidate the concepts present in the literature regarding the SSCM, an absence of similar studies in the current literature was found. The authors have selected articles to compose a database that allows users to analyze and classify publications on MMs in SSCM, being those subdivided into 7 categories: focus, methodology, analyzed sector, sustainable practices, dimensions of sustainable development, type of MM and model/framework validation method.Design/methodology/approachTo achieve this purpose, a literature systematization was conducted by searching publications using defined keywords in two databases and following a process of classification. The systematic process has five steps, from the selection of databases to the filtering of publications, review of information and analysis of the sample.FindingsThe topic under study is promising, with a few publications dealing with it, mainly in Brazil, and there is a trend to exploit more of the area in future research.Originality/valueThis research provides a detailed analysis of an emerging theme, divided into seven thematic categories. Results demonstrate that the topic is still underexplored, indicating an important research gap to be filled.

Objetivo: analisar o efeito do nível de maturidade da sustentabilidade para a eficiência no uso da energia, eficiência hídrica e redução do uso de materiais, por meio da priorização dos objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável. Referencial teórico: se apoia na literatura sobre o nível de maturidade da sustentabilidade e objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável. Método: analisadas as 114 empresas que responderam ao questionário do Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial referente ao ano de 2021 com modelagem de equações estruturais. Resultados e conclusão: o nível de maturidade da sustentabilidade da empresa contribui com os objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável, que levam a eficiência energética e hídrica. No entanto, o mesmo não se pode afirmar a respeito da redução do uso de materiais. Empresas com níveis mais elevados de sustentabilidade priorizam os objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável em suas estratégias e práticas ambientais. Esses resultados levam a crer que ao direcionar seu negócio para as questões da sustentabilidade as empresas acabam contribuindo com o uso racional de recursos sustentáveis, ao mesmo tempo em que geram desenvolvimento econômico. Implicações da pesquisa: para a prática gerencial, mostra aos gestores que quando a empresa busca adaptar suas atividades para a sustentabilidade ela contribui para a utilização dos recursos naturais como, energia e água, bem como com a redução dos desperdícios. E, mostra aos governos que ações são necessárias para incentivar as empresas pela busca por todos os objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável Originalidade/valor: amplia a compreensão sobre a sustentabilidade empresarial e os objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável de forma a fomentar o uso eficiente de recursos naturais.

Integrating sustainability and resilience in the supply chain: A systematic literature review and a research agenda

Sustainability has emerged as an important industrial strategic outlook expanding beyond organizational boundaries to include the supply chain. Simultaneously, the industry has also been faced with supply chain resilience concerns. Research on the intersection of supply chain sustainability and resilience is nascent and is a consequence of their observed mutual influences. However, confusion about concepts, implementation methods, and measurements of sustainable and resilient supply chains remains. This study completes a systematic literature review that critically examines several major observations and directions. We find the concept of sustainable supply chains is more established, and general agreement on its theoretical foundations exists. Supply chain resilience is relatively less mature. The nexus and relationships between the two topics are often incoherent: there is confusion on sustainable and resilient supply chains establishment; there is no clarity on what practices could jointly advance both areas. A major conflict exists since sustainability generally focuses on efficiency, while resilience seeks effectiveness. We recommend studies to analyze implementation relationships and impact. We also observe that performance measurement systems should be developed to assess supply chain sustainability and resilience performance taking with explicit consideration time horizons considered in these measures.
