Alignment of ICNP® 2.0 Ontology and a proposed INCP® Brazilian Ontology

Abstract

Objective to align the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) Version 2.0 ontology and a proposed INCP® Brazilian Ontology. Method document-based, exploratory and descriptive study, the empirical basis of which was provided by the ICNP® 2.0 Ontology and the INCP® Brazilian Ontology. The ontology alignment was performed using a computer tool with algorithms to identify correspondences between concepts, which were organized and analyzed according to their presence or absence, their names, and their sibling, parent, and child classes. Results there were 2,682 concepts present in the ICNP® 2.0 Ontology that were missing in the Brazilian Ontology; 717 concepts present in the Brazilian Ontology were missing in the ICNP® 2.0 Ontology; and there were 215 pairs of matching concepts. Conclusion it is believed that the correspondences identified in this study might contribute to the interoperability between the representations of nursing practice elements in ICNP®, thus allowing the standardization of nursing records based on this classification system.

Scientific production of the International Classification for Nursing Practice: a bibliometric study

“…Likewise, in order to contribute to the development of ICNP ® in Brazil, researchers from the Graduate Program in Health Technology, the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR) and the Graduate Program in Nursing, Universidade de São Paulo School of Nursing (EEUSP/SP) have been developing studies with this classification system. In the Graduate Program in Health Technology, from PUCPR, 13 dissertations were identified using ICNP ® and related to the thematic areas: Circulatory system process (22) ; elements of ontology in the different versions of ICNP® and in the ICNPCH ® vocabulary inventory (23) ; Nursing records (24) ; reproductive apparatus (25) ; pain (26) ; development of ICNP ® terminology subsets; Focuses of the corporal process (27) ; Ontology (28) ; post-vaccination adverse event information system (29) . Teoria De Tornar-Se Humano Para a Classificação Terminológica Da Enfermagem Do Trabalho

“…9,13 Therefore, the methodology for the construction of ICNP ® terminology subgroups of the ICNP® Center / Graduate Nursing Program at Universidade Federal da Paraíba (PPGENF / UFPB) was adopted: standardization of concepts and structuring of the ICNP ® terminology subgroup for environmental and occupational health nursing, based on the Theory of Human Becoming. 24 Initially, based on the correlation of the literature in the area (environmental [three] and occupational health [13] protocols, models adopted by the Brazilian Ministry of Health) with the terms of ICNP ® 2011, we obtained 806 mapped terms as a result, which supported the elaboration of 41 new diagnostic concepts / outcomes and 227 new nursing interventions, based on ISO 18.104: 2003; and the new concepts of nursing formulations, later constructed according to ISO 18.104: 2014.
