Influence of Different Types of Resin Luting Agents on Color Stability of Ceramic Laminate Veneers Subjected to Accelerated Artificial Aging

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of accelerated aging (AAA) on the color stability of resin cements for bonding ceramic laminate veneers of different thicknesses. The occlusal surfaces of 80 healthy human molars were flattened. Ceramic laminate veneers (IPS e-max Ceram) of two thicknesses (0.5 and 1.0 mm) were bonded with three types of luting agents: light-cured, conventional dual and self-adhesive dual cement. Teeth without restorations and cement samples (0.5 mm) were used as control. Aft… Show more

“…However, a major challenge to aesthetic restorations is to provide optical behavior similar to natural teeth (2). The optical properties of a ceramic system depend on their translucency, opalescence, fluorescence, surface texture and shape, firing temperature, number of firing cycles, thickness, processing method and the used resin cement (3)(4)(5).…”

“…These cements have appeared on the market with a proposal to simplify the adhesive bonding technique, with the use of cement in one step 14 , eliminating the demand for pretreatment of the tooth and the restoration 5 . Clearfil SA Cement and Multilink resin cements are considered simplified RC, since the Clearfil SA Cement is one-step selfadhesive cement and the Multilink is applied in an association with a self-etching adhesive.…”

“…Translucency of ceramic materials makes color matching of the restoration complex (3). The color of the final restoration is effected by various factors such as the color of the supporting tooth structure, thickness, shade and type of the ceramic and resin cement and translucency of the restorative material (4,5).…”
