Financial statements are used in organisations as a source of financial information and are used as a tool in decision-making exercises that involve financial decisions. Financial statements indicate the organisations' current financial health and their future potential growth. Both for-profit and nonprofit organisations can benefit from such type of information. Studies show that there is a significant positive relationship between the use of financial statements and decision-making effectiveness. However, this situation is based on the premise that the financial information provided is of high quality and when those who have access to such information understand them and interpret them correctly. Reaching good decisions is vital for organisations, but the implementation of such decisions is equally crucial. Decision-makers need to commit to the decisions taken to reach the goals of the organisations. The decision-making process itself helps in reinforcing the commitment. It is hypothesised that the process is considered satisfactory when the goals set at the beginning of the meeting are met. The more satisfied the decision-makers feel about the process, the more committed they will be to the decisions. The relationship between the quality of the financial statement, the decision-makers knowledge, satisfaction with the decision-making process, and decision commitment has not been researched enough in not-for-profit organisations. Yet, these organisations are involved in complex decision-making situations since they have to balance their social mission and their fiscal responsibility. The study aims to analyse how satisfaction with the decision-making process mediates the effect of financial statements quality and their users' knowledge on the decision commitment in the not-for-profit context. It used a sample from selected not-for-profit entities from Liberia. The findings show that financial statements' quality is associated but does not affect the satisfaction with the decision-making process. On the other hand, satisfaction mediates the effect of knowledge on decision commitment. The findings seem to indicate that not-for-profit organisations need to prepare committee meetings with due diligence to reach optimal decisions and be able to gain full support to implement these decisions.

Coordination is essential for establishing and sustaining teamwork. Agents in a team must agree on their tasks and plans, and thus, group decision-making techniques are necessary to reach agreements in teams. For instance, to agree on a joint task, the agents can provide their preferences for the alternative tasks, and the best alternative could be selected by majority. Previous works assumed that agents only provide their preferences for the alternatives. However, when selecting a joint task for teamwork, it is essential to consider not only the preferences of the agents, but also the probability of the agents being able to execute the task if it is selected. In this paper, we propose a novel model, the decIsion-MAking under Group commItmeNt modEl (IMAGINE), for computing the optimal decision for a team considering several parameters. Each agent provides: (1) the utility of each alternative for the team, (2) the associated cost for the agent by executing the alternative, and (3) the probability that the agent will be able to execute the alternative task. The IMAGINE gathers these data from the agents, as well as the requisite quorum for each alternative task, which is the minimum number of agents required to complete the task successfully. Given this information, the IMAGINE determines the optimal decision for the group. We evaluated the IMAGINE by comparing it to a baseline method that does not consider the quorum requirement. We show that the IMAGINE generally comes up with a better decision than the baseline method and that the higher the quorum, the better the decisions the IMAGINE makes are.

Goal:The present research aimed to demonstrate the use of a decision-making method based on game theory to support the resolution of a usual NPO's management problem, which is the one of fundraising with different stakeholders' preferences.Design / Methodology / Approach: The application of the method occurred within a NPO in the city of Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, and included: (i) a phase for structuring the problem in the form of a decision matrix; and (ii) a group decision phase for supporting the NPO's director board in their group decision-making process. Results:The method predicted reasonably well the group decision, whose effects were demonstrated with a greater sense of justice. Two years after the decision made, the authors verified through a new visit to the NPO that the mix of the choice of the group and the method was indeed implemented. Limitations of the investigation:It should be noted that, given the sample size, the results achieved in this study should be corroborated by other studies that eventually replicate the procedures proposed here. Practical implications:It has been concluded that the use of a formal approach can contribute to the solution of the fundraising problem in NPOs environment, increasing the chances for decision's implementation.Originality / Value: It is expected that the framework proposed can be used for other similar problems of group decision making in NPOs by the replication of the procedures presented in the paper.
