The use of plant extracts can be an alternative to reduce the use of pesticides, to control diseases and pests that affect agricultural production. The aim of this study was the chemical characterization of the extract and fractions of Pouteria ramiflora leaves and to determine its fungistatic potential on Lasiodiplodia theobromae. The ethanolic extract of dried and crushed leaves was obtained by maceration. Part of this extract was sequentially partitioned and the following fractions were obtained: hexane, dichloromethane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butyl, and hydromethanol for subsequent bioassay, and qualitative and quantitative phytochemical analysis. Experimental development comprises of adding a L. theobromae mycelial disk (5 mm), obtained from pure colonies, in the middle of Petri dishes with PDA culture growth (potato-dextrose-agar) plus the aforementioned substances in different concentrations (800; 1,200; 1,600; 2,000, and 2,400 µg/mL), and a control treatment (PDA). The plates were incubated in B.O.D. (25±2°C), and the assessment was performed by measuring the diameter of the colonies until it reaches the edge of the board. The experimental design was completely randomized with five replications, and the treatments were constituted of a factorial of seven extracts/fractions and six concentrations. For the Mycelial Growth Rate Index (MGRI) obtained, the analysis of variance was performed, and when significant, the regression analysis was performed. All extract/fractions decreased MGRI of L. theobromae, as the concentrations were increased. The best MGRI reduction occurred in n-butanolic fraction, and the efficiency of this fraction may be related to the presence of flavonoids and anthraquinones. The extract and fractions of P. ramiflora, a tree from the Cerrado biome in Mato Grosso do Sul, was effective in the control of L. theobromae, which can be used as a control option in organic farming or in integrated management systems.

Vegetable biodiversity in Brazil accounts for almost 67% of the plants on the planet, which are part of studies with focus on determinants of food security and access to adequate and healthy food, while preserving natural resources. Studies indicate that Hibiscus sabdariffa L. is one of the most studied unconventional food crops because of its nutraceutical quality as antioxidant and prevention of hypertension and cancer. Although relevant, substrate and temperature information for seedling production of this species are scarce. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the best substrate and temperature for the vigor and germination test of H. sabdariffa seeds of the Talo Roxo and Rubra varieties. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete design, in a 7 × 5 factorial arrangement, consisting of the combinations of seven substrates (paper towel, filter paper, vermiculite, between sand, on sand, plantmax® and compost) with five temperatures (20, 25, 30, 35 and 20-30 °C), with four replicates with 50 seeds each. The following variables were evaluated: germination, germination speed index, seedling length and dry mass. For germination and vigor tests of Hibiscus sabdariffa var. Talo Roxo seeds the paper roll substrate is recommended at temperatures of 25 or 35 °C and for var. Rubra seeds, plantmax® at 25 °C and plantmax® and vermiculite at temperatures of 25 or 20-30 °C, respectively.

A espécie Hibiscus sabdariffa L. é originária do continente Africano. Trata-se de uma espécie arbustiva que pode chegar até 2 m de altura, onde devido aos seus vários usos, se espalhou para diversas regiões no mundo, onde atua de forma exótica, podendo se tornar uma espécie naturalizada. Na cidade de Cáceres- MT existe uma pequena população da espécie em uma área antropizada, no qual, de acordo com os moradores locais, as plantas já estão presentes no local há vários anos, mesmo havendo diversas vezes a ocorrência de perturbações na área. Sendo assim, o objetivo do trabalho foi analisar a possível naturalização de Hibiscus sabdariffa em uma localidade antropizada presente na região de transição dos Biomas Pantanal, Floresta Amazônica e Cerrado na cidade de Cáceres- MT. Para a execução do trabalho realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa, de natureza exploratória e descritiva, pesquisa bibliográfica sobre Hibiscus sabdariffa e sobre naturalização de plantas. Os dados sobre as perturbações foram coletados através de observações ao decorrer dos anos e por entrevistas com pequenos produtores que residem na comunidade. A pequena população da espécie Hibiscus sabdariffa encontrada na comunidade rural em Cáceres- MT possui as características de naturalização, podendo assim, ser considerada uma espécie naturalizada no local e participante da biodiversidade local. Além disso, o fato de a espécie estar presente na área há vários anos mesmo com as perturbações recorrentes, reforça a ocorrência de naturalização.
