Nível de dependência e qualidade de vida da população idosa

Method: This is a descriptive and exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, with eleven senior citizens of a support group, attached to the Family Health Strategy, of the neighborhood of Igapó, located in Natal-RN. Data were collected using focus groups, and then analyzed based on the thematic analysis content method. Results:In the view of seniors, the meaning of quality of life was vocalized expressing a polysemic sense related to multiple aspects, highlighting the health status and the reciprocity discussed in the system of the gift. The statements confirmed that the experiences in the group have contributed to improving the quality of life in the several aspects related to the physical and functional capacity, as well as in the emotional and social aspects related to the creation of bonds and improvement of self-esteem. Furthermore, they signaled positive repercussions on the general health status. Conclusions:The feelings of thankfulness expressed by the group, as well as recognition of the importance of trade and reciprocity in the group, the learning in educational activities and the reflexes projected in the life of each of them; indicated current changes and gifts.

Background: To analyze the quality of life of a group of elderly people enrolled in the Family Health Strategy of the Igapó neighborhood, in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.Methods: This is a longitudinal study with a quantitative approach.The process of data collection occurred in two different moments. The instruments used to collect data were: "Questionnaire on sociodemographic data" and the "Brazilian Version of the Short Form-36 Quality of Life Questionnaire (SF-36)."Results: It was verified that most of them were women, with low purchasing power and low education level. There was a predominance of unmarried elderly individuals who did not perform work activities. Higher scores were identified for the emotional, physical and mental domains. In the first collection, lower scores regarding the general state of health and pain were observed. There were better percentages of improvement in the areas of General Health Status, Body Pain and Social Function and Physical Health dimension. The activities developed in the coexistence group together with the elderly were classified as educational, physical/functional and commemorative. Conclusion:This study showed higher scores in the physical, functional and mental aspects, where the autonomy of the elderly is directly related, reflecting an active aging favoring a better quality of life.

ResumoEmbora a força de preensão manual (FPM) seja utilizada para avaliação de força total do corpo, ainda há contradição na literatura acerca da capacidade preditiva da força de membro inferior (FMI) a partir da FPM. Sabe-se que a FMI é determinante na estabilidade corporal e na locomoção, sendo de extrema importância sua avaliação de forma precisa. Portanto, o objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar a correlação entre a FPM e FMI (flexores e extensores de joelho) em mulheres de meia idade. Trata-se de um estudo observacional analítico, transversal, com 395 mulheres (40 a 65 anos), avaliadas quanto à FPM e FMI (flexores e extensores de joelho). Foi utilizada correlação de Pearson, regressão linear e análise de Bland-Altman para análise dos dados, considerando significância de 5%. A média de idade das mulheres foi de 49,75(±5,8) anos. A média da FPM e FMI (flexão e extensão de joelho) foram, respectivamente: 25,8 (±5,4), 14,7 (±4,9) e 16,5 (±4,5) Kgf. Após análise de regressão linear e análise de Bland-Altman, o valor de R 2 ajustado mostrou baixa capacidade de predição da FMI a partir da FPM, com a força de extensão do joelho (R 2 = 0,21) apresentando valores mais elevados que a força de flexão (R 2 = 0,13). A FPM correlaciona-se de maneira fraca com a força de extensão e flexão de joelhos em mulheres de meia idade, evidenciando a necessidade de avaliação de diferentes segmentos corporais a fim de uma estimativa mais criteriosa nesta população.
