Feelings, experiences and expectations of kidney transplant individuals and challenges for the nurse

“…The importance of nurses in coordinating care and managing KT candidates (pre‐KT) has been reported to be beneficial in facilitating access to this treatment option, which can substantially improve clinical outcomes for patients (Burns et al, 2019; Haugen et al, 2019; Patzer et al, 2016). The nursing approach responds to individual needs and increases the ability to deliver personalised care based on a relationship of trust (Ribeiro et al, 2021). This study found that this nursing role was present at only 33.3% of the facilities with KT activity in Spain, with only one APN role in the pre‐KT setting across the whole country.…”
