Introduction: Urinary incontinence(UI) is a complicated condition that affects women of all ages, is common, affects life negatively, and occurs for many reasons. It does not only have a medical problem for women but also affects the quality of life defined as physical, psychological, economic and social well-being. In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the frequency of urinary incontinence and the affecting factors in women aged 18 and over. Methods: 212 female patients aged between 18-85 who applied to Cemil Tascioglu City Hospital Family Medicine Polyclinics were included in this study. Those patients were divided into two groups: urinary incontinent and continent. General poll form, ICIQ-SF were interrogated. In general poll form, medical story about demographic data, personal history, family history, additional diseases, UI risk factors was interrogated. Dates of study were evaluated in the sense of meaningfulness by Shapiro Wilk test, Mann Whitney U test, Pearson Ki-Kare test, Fisher's Exact Ki-Kare test. Results: Number of incontinent and continent cases was 111 and 101, respectively. So, the frequency of UI was found to be 52.4%. Average age of incontinent and continent cases was 51.07±11.80 and 43.50±12.80 respectively. 37.7% of UI cases had urgent-type, 12.3% of UI cases had stress-type and 30.2% had mixed-type UI. Increase in body mass index (p<0.001), low level of education (p<0.001), curettage (p:0.014), menopause (p<0.001), giving birth to relatively big babies (p:0.048), hypertension (p:0.001), diabetes mellitus (p:0.038), constipation (p:0.042), genital prolapsus (p:0.008) were meaningfully higher in the incontinent group. Conclusion:In our study; it was found that urinary incontinence rate increased with increasing age. The vast majority of women see this as a result of being a woman and aging and they do not consult a doctor. In our study, we found that 86.8% of women with urinary incontinence did not consult a doctor. Most of the individuals with urinary incontinence can be recognized and treated effectively by their family physicians in primary care. Therefore, family physicians should identify the problem of urinary incontinence in patients who apply to outpatient clinics, identify risk factors, define and treat them.

Introduction:The study was conducted to determine the undiagnosed prevalence of urinary incontinence and its association with the quality of life in middle-aged and older women. Material and methods:The sample of the study consisted of women aged 40 years or above who were admitted to a tertiary care center between March and July 2019. The data were collected by faceto-face interview method. "International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF)" and "Incontinence Quality of Life Questionnaire (I-QOL)" were used to collect data on urinary incontinence and quality of life.Results: The screened sample included 140 women (mean age: 60.6±11.3 years). Urinary incontinence was detected in 90 subjects (64.3%). Urinary incontinence complaints were present for an average of four years. Self-rated effect on daily life was moderate (ICIQ-SF: 5.0±2.5), and more than half of them (64.4%) did not consider urinary incontinence as a health issue, More than half (62.9%) did not admit for professional care for many reasons. The average score was 85.0±14.7 from the "Psychosocial influence" sub-dimension, 71.0±16.9 from the "Social isolation" subdimension, 65.1±16.6 from the "Limitation of behaviors" sub-dimension, and 74.6±14.5 from the whole scale. There was no significant relationship between I-QOL total score and educational status, marital status, income level, chronic diseases, mode of delivery, and menopause.Discussion and conclusion: This study found that more than half of women admitted to a hospital for other reasons have urinary incontinence complaints. Although the duration of symptoms was long and quality of life was somehow influenced, admission to a health facility was low.

Background: stress urinary Incontinence ( SUI) is a prevalent condition affecting both perimenopausal and postmenopausal women and impacts all aspects of life. As estrogen level is reduced with advance of age , a secondary decrease in collagen occur leading to inadequate support of the urogential tract. Aim of the work: to evaluate the effect of laser in collagen regeneration amongst perimenopausal and postmenopausal women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI), its impact on quality of life, and its safety profile. Patients and methods: Fifty-three women, aged from 45-67 years, with various grades of SUI (pure & mixed) were recruited. Patients received treatment with Er: YAG laser (2940nm) in one, two, or three sessions according to the grades of incontinence and response of treatment. Urinary incontinence (UI) was evaluated using the international consultation on incontinence questionnaire urinary incontinence short form (ICIQ-UISF). Quality of life was assessed by ICIQ -urinary incontinence symptom quality of life (ICQ-UIQOL), sexually active patients were interviewed by ICIQ-Female Sexual Matters associated with lower urinary tract symptoms (ICIQ-FLUITS sex). The questionnaires were collected at baseline, 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after the procedures. Results: There were statistically significant improvements in frequency, amount of leakage, and grades of SUI-especially mild and moderate grades (p=0.004). A statistically significant positive relation between climacteric phases and grades of SUI before laser (p<0.001), which turned into negative relation after laser treatment, which (P=0.040). A statistically significant improvement was observed in all questionnaires scores (P< 0.05). Minor side effects were detected, such as discomfort or burning sensation; which disappeared within 1-2 days post procedure. Conclusion:Laser therapy is an effective treatment for mild and moderate SUI, with or without mild prolapse, in peri-menopause or postmenopause women; it improves quality of life of patients and their sexual matters, with minimal side effects.
