Background
Endodontic diagnosis can be compared to a puzzle, requiring the interpretation of a series of clinical and imaging data. Mobile health, especially mobile application (apps), can assist professionals in endodontic diagnosis. This work aims to evaluate an app - Endo 10 app, designed to assist pulpal and periapical diagnosis based on the patient’s signs and symptoms and radiographic data.
Material and Methods
A total of 41 dental students and dentists with different levels of expertise (10 multi-specialty clinic professors, 17 residents in endodontics and 14 dental students) were included. The System Usability Scale (SUS) was used to evaluate usability and the Davis’ technology acceptance model was used to evaluate usefulness of Endo 10 app. The Mann-Whitney test was performed to compare SUS scores between professors and undergraduate dental students and to compare questions 6 and 7 of the utility test and verify whether participants who understood that the technology was useful also better understood the concepts of endodontic diagnosis. The agreement between professor’s diagnosis with the app and professor without the app, and between professor and residents in endodontics with the app were evaluated.
Results
The SUS score at the 50th percentile was 77.5, graded as acceptable. No significant difference was observed in the SUS scores when analyzing professors and dental students separately (

= 0.442). Usefulness test showed positive responses ranging between 72% - 100%. No statistically significant difference was observed between questions 6 and 7 of the utility test (
p
= 0.206), indicating that the group of participants who understood that the technology was useful in endodontic diagnosis was associated with the agreement that the application helped to better understand the concepts related. The diagnosis agreement between professor in the common diagnosis process and professor with app was 100% (31) of cases. The concordance between professor and residents in endodontics with the app was 71% (22) of cases. The differences were associated with resident’s misinterpreting the patient’s data.
Conclusions
The Endo 10 app reached the usability and usefulness requirements. It proved accurate in diagnosing pulpal and periapical pathologies.

RESUMOA tecnologia móvel faz cada vez mais parte do cotidiano de pessoas de todas as faixas etárias, numa escala praticamente mundial. Tal tecnologia tem afetado diversos setores da sociedade, e também possui um grande potencial benéfico quando aplicada na área da saúde. Este estudo teve como objetivo investigar aplicativos móveis para a área da saúde no período de janeiro de 2015 a janeiro de 2020, e discorrer sobre o seu potencial de utilização na saúde pública. A metodologia empregada é a revisão integrativa da literatura, sendo que no final a amostra foi composta por 18 artigos na língua portuguesa, que foram obtidos através dos descritores “aplicativo” e “saúde” nas bases de dados Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e a Scientific Eletronic Library (SCIELO). A análise dos resultados revelou que a maior parte dos artigos científicos estava relacionado ao exercício da enfermagem e à área multiprofissional, embora tenha demonstrado aplicações da tecnologia desde a atenção primária até os níveis secundário e terciário. Não foi constatado nenhum vínculo formal entre os aplicativos desenvolvidos e os programas e/ou estratégias de saúde pública existentes, de forma que foi verificada uma existência interdependente tanto dos produtos desenvolvidos como dos programas do governo, com pouca ou nenhuma perspectiva de atuação conjunta. Em vista disso, esta pesquisa sugere fortemente que haja, por parte dos governos federal, estadual e municipal, um investimento maior em políticas de incentivo ao desenvolvimento de tecnologias voltadas para a saúde pública, com posterior adoção das mesmas, para a melhoria do Sistema Único de Saúde.Palavras-chave: Aplicativo. Saúde. Smartphone. ABSTRACTMobile technology is increasingly part of the daily lives of people of all age groups, on a virtually worldwide scale. Such technology has affected several sectors of society, and it also has great beneficial potential when applied in the health area. This study aimed to investigate mobile applications for the health area from January 2015 to January 2020, and discuss its potential for use in public health. The methodology used is the integrative literature review, and in the end the sample consisted of 18 articles in Portuguese, which were obtained through the descriptors "application" and "health" in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and the Scientific Eletronic Library (SCIELO). The analysis of the results revealed that most scientific articles were related to the practice of nursing and the multidisciplinary area, although it has demonstrated applications of technology from primary care to secondary and tertiary levels. No formal link was found between the applications developed and the existing public health programs and / or strategies, so that there was an interdependent existence of both developed products and government programs, with little or no prospect of joint action. In view of this, this research strongly suggests that there is, by the federal, state and municipal governments, a greater investment in policies to encourage the development of technologies aimed at public health, with subsequent adoption of them, for the improvement of the Unified Health System.Keywords: App. Health. For decades, the main cause of failure in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is still the malalignment of prosthetic components. The authors present a case of advanced knee arthrosis, treated by TKA. Preoperative planning was performed with a mobile application and the patient was submitted to primary TKA using an implant developed with inspiration from the theory of “modified GAP” with a rotated tibial tray. Neutral mechanical alignment of the lower limbs was obtained and the application proved to be viable regarding its proposed plan for this case.
