“…This observation corroborates data from well-characterized mammalian CRESS-DNA viruses (PCV1; Allan & Ellis, 2000 ; TTV; Okamoto, 2009 ), which often manifest asymptomatically in healthy host tissue. We speculate that LM29173, like other CRESS-DNA viruses, may evade host clearance, attenuate innate immune responses, or elicit host tolerance through post-transcriptional or translational gene regulation, ultimately establishing persistent and asymptompatic infections ( Brajão de Oliveira, 2015 ; Okamoto, 2009 ). This hypothesis may explain the universal prevalence and diversity of these viruses in aquatic ecosystems, as observed by metaviromic sequencing.…”

“…Viruses belonging to the Anelloviridae family, also ssDNA/circular, are widely distributed worldwide. Nevertheless, neither the type of interaction with their hosts nor their direct association with the etiology of specific diseases is entirely understood [22]. Previously, studies suggested the association with pathological conditions, such as hepatitis, cancer, and respiratory diseases as well as hematological and autoimmune disorders [23].…”

“…TTV infection is one of the most ubiquitous viruses in humans and this infection has been suggested to be related to various diseases, although there is no direct proof of such association [9] . HCV infection is one of the commonest infections encountered with TTV, with several studies reporting such association.…”
