“…Three percent reported making threats and 6% indicated that they perpetrated physical violence against their ex-partner. An overall rate of stalking was not provided (Burgess, Harner, Baker, Hartman, & Lole, 2001). A handful of studies have examined PRS in samples of known female IPV victims, finding victimization prevalence rates of 48% (Edwards & Gidycz, 2014), 49% (Ornstein & Rickne, 2013), and 75% (Langhinrichsen-Rohling, 2006).…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, there are no studies on the link between IPV and PRS in male victims, which is a significant limitation given that men constitute a significant minority of all stalking victims (Spitzberg et al, 2010; Tjaden & Thoennes, 1998) and a substantial number of IPV victims (Desmarais et al, 2012a). Most studies are also limited by highly selective samples such as self-identified victims (Brewster, 2000; Ferreira & Matos, 2013; Langhinrichsen-Rohling, 2006) and perpetrators involved with the criminal justice system or clinical services (Brooks, 2010; Burgess et al, 2001; McEwan et al, 2017; Morrison, 2008; Nicastro et al, 2000), potentially leading to bias in the results.…”
