0.8 GeVp+Pb208elastic scattering and the quantity

Abstract: Analyses of 0.8 and 1 GeV p + ' 'Pb elastic angular distribution data have obtained neutron-proton rootmean-square radius differences (hr") which are not consistent. Therefore, the 0.8 GeV experiment was repeated using a high resolution spectrometer. The new higher precision data are consistent with the older data, apart from a 15% overall normalization difference. A second order Kerman-McManus-Thaler optical model analysis of the new data, using a model-independent neutron density, yields Ar"~= 0, 14+0.04 fm,… Show more

“…This is one of the reasons for using a global approach when the data set used is large and usually correlated. In this work we use elastic p + A data between 500 MeV and 1040 MeV for 40 [56,57], and 1040 MeV [58]. However for 48 Ca only three energies; 497.5 MeV [45], 797.5 MeV [59], and 1044 MeV [51,52] are available.…”

“…Errors of the neutron distributions are estimated in a model independent fashion in Refs. [26,27]. More recently, the determination of the neutron density have been improved for lead (Pb) based on a new experiment and a new analysis [28,29].…”
