We have newly developed a 4.0-in. quarter video graphics array (QVGA) active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display integrated with gate and source driver circuits using amorphous In–Ga–Zn-oxide (IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs). Focusing on a passivation layer in an inverted staggered bottom gate structure, the threshold voltage of the TFTs can be controlled to have “normally-off” characteristics with suppressed variation by using a SiO
x
layer formed by sputtering with a low hydrogen content. In addition, small subthreshold swing S/S of 0.19 V/decade, high field-effect mobility µFE of 11.5 cm2 V-1 s-1, and threshold voltage V
th of 1.27 V are achieved. The deposition conditions of the passivation layer and other processes are optimized, and variation in TFT characteristics is suppressed, whereby high-speed operation in gate and source driver circuits can be achieved. Using these driver circuits, the 4.0-in. QVGA AMOLED display integrated with driver circuits can be realized.
Background: Among the claudin (CLDN) family, CLDN6 exhibits aberrant expression in various cancers, but its biological relevance has not yet been established. We generated a monoclonal antibody (mAb) against human CLDN6 and verified its specificity. By immunohistochemical staining and semi-quantification, we evaluated the relationship between CLDN6 expression and clinicopathological parameters in tissues from 173 cases of endometrial cancer. Results: The established mAb selectively recognized CLDN6 protein. Ten of the 173 cases (5.8%) showed high CLDN6 expression (score 3+), whereas 19 (11.0%), 18 (10.4%) and 126 (72.4%) cases revealed low CLDN6 expression (score 2+, 1+ and 0, respectively). In addition, intratumor heterogeneity of CLDN6 expression was observed even in the cases with high CLDN6 expression. The 5-year survival rates in the high and low CLDN6 groups was approximately 30% and 90%, respectively. Among the clinicopathological factors, the high CLDN6 expression was significantly associated with surgical stage III/IV, histological grade 3, lymphovascular space involvement, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis. Furthermore, the high CLDN6 expression was an independent prognostic marker for overall survival of endometrial cancer patients (hazard ratio 3.50, p = 0.014). Conclusions: It can be concluded that aberrant CLDN6 expression is useful to predict poor outcome for endometrial cancer and might be a promising therapeutic target.
A simple preparation of high drug-loaded ferritin nanomedicines was demonstrated. By mixing ferritin and a drug, an electrostatic potential with a small ferritin cavity facilitated the passage and the deposition of the drug in the cavity.
A feeding experiment was conducted to examine the e¡ect of a supplemental ethanol extract from a defatted soybean meal on the biliary bile status and intestinal conditions of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss. A semi-puri¢ed control diet based on casein (Cont) and three diets supplemented with the extract (ES), bovine bile salts (BS) and their combination (ESBS) were fed to trout (10 g) for 6 weeks. The growth, feed e⁄ciency ratio, fat digestibility and gallbladderand hepato-somatic indices of ¢sh fed diet ES decreased. Compared with this group, these parameters were improved in ¢sh fed diet ESBS. The total biliary bile salt content was the lowest in ¢sh fed diet ES and this group had a high proportion of chenodeoxycholyltaurine. The inclusion of the bile salts to diet ES (diet ESBS) increased the total biliary bile salt content. A similar trend was observed in the bile salt concentration of intestinal digesta. Although morphological changes occurred in epithelial cells of the distal intestine of ¢sh fed diet ES, the histological features of ¢sh fed diet ESBS were similar to those of ¢sh fed diet Cont. These results indicate that alcohol-soluble substances of soybean meal cause physiological changes in the biliary bile and intestine of rainbow trout.
