N‐Methylharnstoff (I) läßt sich mit Cyanessigsäure (II) in Essigsäureanhydrid zu den beiden isomeren Harnstoffen (III) und (IV) acylieren, von denen sich (III) aufgrund seiner Schwerlöslichkeit leicht abtrennen läßt, während (IV) aus der Mutterlauge isoliert werden kann.
