This study aimed to find out the critical thinking patterns of students in the argumentative essay, explain and explore students' arguments that contain critical elements. This study used the content analysis method. Data was obtained from argumentative essays written by first-year students of Brawijaya University who took Indonesian Language courses. The total of data was 90 posts. Data collection was done by assignments and interviews. Data was analyzed using data analysis procedures from Cresswel of six stage is preparing and organizing, data exploration, using code, representing findings, interpretations, and validate the accuracy of the findings. Three critical thinking patterns were found in the student's essay, namely pattern I (Inference-Evaluation), and pattern II (Analysis-Evaluation), pattern III (Interpretation-Evaluation). In pattern two, there were four pattern variations while there was only one pattern in patterns I and III. The results of this study indicated that students' critical thinking patterns were oriented towards analytic thinking, namely analyzing various phenomena by revealing evidence and reasons to draw logical conclusions. The pattern found can be used as a reference for writing lecturers in developing students' critical thinking skills in higher education.
The study aimed to measure the validity of critical thinking instruments and determined the differences in critical thinking skills in terms of gender and knowledge group. The study was used survey method. Critical thinking instruments were developed based on the Facoine (2015)'s indicators of critical thinking. Data were obtained from 285 respondents (N = 285) of first-year students who took Indonesian language courses. Respondents consisted of 78 male and 207 female students. The 25 questions in critical thinking instruments were claimed valid and homogeneous with r count of 0.266. Data were analyzed using nonparametric statistics of Mann-Withney test in SPSS version 21 application for Windows. There was no significant difference in students' critical thinking skills in gender differences and knowledge groups. Result of the study showed that 22 sub-indicators of students' critical thinking was found similarity in gender and 20 sub-indicators also found similarity in knowledge group. The study supported the new paradigm that students regardless of gender differences and science clusters needed critical thinking skills. Based on learning context in various science groups, there was no need to differentiate gender even though there were differences in the number of a certain gender in one class.
This study was aimed at producing a valid, practical, and effective comic-based student worksheet for writing slogans and posters on Indonesian language learning. The development research was designed using a 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate) and limited to the third stage. The subject of the study included experts in content validation, teachers in the practicality test and class VIII students as a trial of product use. The instruments used in data collection in this study were validation questionnaires, observation sheets, and performance tests. The data in the form of questionnaire validation, practicality, activity, and student learning outcomes then were processed quantitatively. The worksheet consists of 8 themes. The results show that the developed comic-based Indonesian worksheet for the material of writing slogans and posters is vaild, practical and effective to facilitate the development of activities and student learning achievement. This worksheet is able to be used as teaching materials to improve the quality of the process and results of learning Indonesian.PENGEMBANGAN LEMBAR KERJA SISWA BERBASIS KOMIK PADA MATERI MENULIS POSTER DAN SLOGAN Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS) berbasis komik yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk materi menulis slogan dan poster pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian pengembangan didesain dengan menggunakan model 4D (define, design, develop, disseminate) dan dibatasi sampai pada tahap ketiga. Subjek penelitian mencakup ahli dalam validasi konten, guru dalam uji praktikabilitas dan siswa kelas VIII sebagai uji coba penggunaan produk. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah angket validasi, lembar observasi, dan tes unjuk kerja. Data penelitian berupa skor angket validasi, praktikalitas, aktivitas, dan hasil belajar siswa dan diolah secara kuantitatif. LKS yang dihasilkan terdiri dari 8 tema Berdasarkan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa LKS bahasa Indonesia berbasis komik untuk materi manulis slogan dan poster yang dikembangkan sangat valid sangat praktis dan sangat efektif untuk memfasilitasi pengembangan aktivtas dan prestasi belajar siswa. LKS yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan ajar untuk meningkatkan kualitas proses dan hasil pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia.
Penelitian ini memaparkan representasi nilai religi dalam setiap bait-bait puisi karya Taufik Ismail. Puisi yang bernilai religius dapat digunakan untuk menyadarkan masyarakat (pembaca) untuk selalu bersyukur pada Tuhan Sang Penguasa. Kumpulan puisi Debu di Atas Debu: Kumpulan Puisi Dwi-Bahasa karya Taufik Ismail merupakan catatan-catatan emosional zaman dengan gejolak politik dan sikap bangsa Indonesia. Jenis penelitian ini berupa kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi (content analysis) serta pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kepengarangan Taufik yang terdapat pada representasi nilai religi di setiap bait-bait puisi. Melalui seni pedalangan ketika Taufik bermukim di Yogyakarta dan seni bakaba ketika Taufik pindah ke Bukittinggi yang merupakan bentuk gaya kepengaranan seorang penyair yang dipengaruhi kebudayaan lokal, Taufik ingin menyentuh perasaan pembaca akan representasi nilai religius untuk membentuk karakter bangsa.Kata Kunci: representasi; nilai; religi; kepengarangan; puisi This study describes the representation of religious values in each poetic verse by Taufik Ismail. Religious poetry can be used to make people (readers) aware to always be grateful to God the Lord. A collection of Debu di Atas Debu: Kumpulan Puisi Dwi-Bahasa by Taufik Ismail is an emotional record of the times with political turmoil and the attitude of the Indonesian people. This type of research is qualitative with the method of content analysis and the sociological approach of literature. This is aimed at describing Taufik's authorship in the representation of religious values in each verse of poetry. Through the art of puppetry when Taufik settled in Yogyakarta and bakaba art when Taufik moved to Bukittinggi which was a form of the poet's sound style influenced by local culture, Taufik wanted to touch the readers' feelings about the representation of religious values to shape the nation's character.Keywords: representation; values; religion; authorship; poetry
