Comparative study of agricultural carbonization and forest residues in order to substitute firewood in the process of drying coffee beansThe present work aimed to compare the energy potential of residues generated in the processing of coffee beans (Coffea canephora Pierre ex A. Froehner, var. Conilon) and in the wood milling process, suggesting their use as a replacement for eucalyptus firewood in the drying process of coffee beans. The use of agricultural and forestry waste could help reduce environmental problems related to contamination of soil, air and water due to inadequate disposal, and reduce the cost of production and or processing of coffee. By-products of dry distillation and charcoal of these raw materials were quantified and compared. According to the results, it was verified that the residue of coffee hulls
The Mangueira Lagoon located in southern Brazil, has its northern portion included in the Taim Ecological Station, a federal conservation unit. The fishing practice is among the activities at this region. It has its own characteristics due to environmental conditions and specific physiography of the area. A field protocol based on geographic information was used to characterize the occupation process and the use of fishing resources. Socio-economic information was collected through interviews of the fishermen and also based on fishing data. After compiling the data a statistical descriptive analyses was completed. The average catch per fisherman in the region is 4,766.5 kg per year. The Loricariichthys anus showed the highest catch volume, ensuring the economic viability of the local activity. The constant increase of the activity may be compromising the reproductive cycle of the local ichthyological fauna, thus compromising the fishery sustainability. Keywords: Mangueira Lagoon, fishing effort, artisanal fishing.
Hibiscus L. is one of the largest genera of Malvaceae, Southeast Brazil has six endemic species of 14 native species, mainly distributed in cerrado. These Hibiscus are hairy shrubs, with showy flowers of pink corolla, dark base, 5-toothed staminal tube apex, loculicidal capsule of 5 cells. The species inhabit wet ecosystems of the atlantic rainforest and cerrado. After the last study of Hibiscus taxonomy evidencing four endemic species from Minas Gerais state, showed to have the largest endemism center of Hibiscus in Brazil, therefore, using IUCN classification methodology, we indicated H. hilarianus and H. multiformis as vulnerable, H. itirapinensis as endangered and H. mariae as critically endangered. The species are represented by small isolated populations distributed at the mountains and plateaus between Espinhaço mountain range and Planalto Paulista, considered a region with great endemic biodiversity. According to the previously analysis, it is recommended specific studies with techniques and appropriate methodology to research the development and evolutionary characteristics of hibiscus species in Minas Gerais state.
The standards for composition, communication and discovery for Web Services constitute a framework with the goal of achieve interoperability. Even else, some problems, like QoS provisioment were not solved. This article presents an architecture for Web Services discovery with QoS support. This architecture relies in a broker as an intermediate component between the client, the server and the UDDI, what it facilitates the discovery for QoS-support Web Services. This work presents the architecture proposed as main contribution, and a XML schema documents defining the way as the QoS parameters must be specified, allowing to each client to specify distinct QoS parameters to each kind of service.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
