This research analyzes the impact of government effectiveness on innovation by using unbalanced panel data from the World Bank on 166 countries spanning 1996 to 2018. We analyze the impact of government efficiency on innovation through various panel fixed-effects models, while incorporating control variables such as GDP, education, and industrial structure into the analysis framework. The empirical results conclude that, in our selected countries, government efficiency has a significantly positive impact on innovation output and more importantly verify the positive impact from the improvement of bureaucracy quality on innovation. The evidence again shows the positive impacts of government efficiency on innovation output by addressing endogenous and robustness checking via the series of methods. Furthermore, the heterogeneity and mechanism of this relationship would be explored. Therefore, the research results provide an alternative method for national governments to promote innovation output by improving government effectiveness.
This study examines the impact of managerial trustworthy behavior on employees’ engagement and the mediating role of perceived insider status. This study has adopted an exploratory research design and positivist philosophy. The data are collected from 205 healthcare staff working in public sector hospitals in Pakistan through survey questionnaires, using a convenience sampling technique. Partial Least Square Structural equation modeling is used to analyze the data and test hypotheses. Results indicate that managerial trustworthy behavior relates positively to employee engagement. Perceived insider status mediates the relationship between managerial trustworthy behavior and employee engagement. The major limitation of this study is its cross-sectional design which limits the casualty. However, this study offers important insights regarding trust-building, engagement, and inclusion in the health sector. This study highlights the importance of trust-building among managers and employees. Managers who instill more trust in employees will garner more positive behavior. This study offers fresh insights into managers’ trustworthy behavior toward employees’ engagement and the employees’ perceived insider status within their organizations.
Digitalization has imposed new production and trade requirements on enterprises. Quality upgrading of export products, a requirement of international consumption upgrading, is also a product of enterprise industrial upgrading. We examine the impact of the digitalization of Chinese listed firms on the quality of their export products from 2011 to 2015 using the panel fixed effects model and chain mediating effects model. The results demonstrate that digitalization has an inverted U-shaped effect on the quality of export products. Further, digitalization can promote the quality upgrading of enterprises’ export products. However, the supporting capacity of digital infrastructure and the decreasing consumption upgrading of foreign customers limit this process. Empirical results show that digitalization can alleviate the financing constraints to improve the quality of export products. Because digitalization can improve human capital quality, this effect can improve the export product quality. A chain mediation effect also occurs. Digitalization alleviates financing constraints to improve human capital and enterprises’ export product quality.
