O presente estudo, realizado ambulatorialmente em um hospital escola alagoano, teve o objetivo de avaliar a presença de sobrepeso, associado ao perfil dos exames bioquímicos, marcadores de inflamação e suas implicações clínicas, em idosos portadores de DRC. Avaliaram-se clínica e laboratorialmente 30 pacientes, de ambos os sexos, com idade superior a 60 anos, doentes renais crônicos. Após determinação do IMC, os indivíduos foram divididos em eutróficos e com sobrepeso. As análises foram realizadas com o auxílio do pacote estatístico Stata versão 22.0. A média de idade foi de 71,4 (±8,14) e de IMC na faixa do sobrepeso, em sua maioria sedentários, sexo masculino e quase sua totalidade portadora de Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica. Na avaliação da função renal, foram utilizados como marcadores laboratoriais: ureia, creatinina e taxa de filtração glomerular. Tratando-se do perfil inflamatório, a média do TNF- α foi de 807,51 (±47,24) para o grupo de eutróficos e 808,57 (±60,20) para o grupo em sobrepeso, assim como a média de IL-6 foi de 631,78 (±588,82) para o grupo de eutróficos e 293,21 (± 258,66) mostrando-se aumentadas em ambos os grupos. Dessa forma, o estudo evidenciou que não houve diferenças significativas em relação aos valores das citocinas, entre os grupos analisados.
