O Tratamento Restaurador Atraumático (ART) foi idealizado para remediar a falta do acesso odontológico por parte de populações desassistidas do serviço. Então, a técnica baseia-se em usar apenas instrumentos manuais para a remoção do tecido cariado e posteriormente restauração utilizando o cimento de ionômero de vidro (CIV). Desta forma, o objetivo do trabalho é relatar aos cirurgiões-dentistas, principalmente inseridos no serviço público, que o ART pode ser uma técnica viável. Para isto, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica, baseada em dados qualitativos/descritivo, nas bases de dados do Google acadêmico, Scielo, Lilacs e Pubmed, onde foram utilizados 45 artigos nacionais e internacionais, entre os anos de 1996 a 2023, enfatizando sobre a viabilidade da técnica no serviço público, conceituando a filosofia do ART, suas aplicabilidades, vantagens e desvantagens da técnica, materiais utilizados, protocolo da técnica, bem como a introdução do ART no serviço público no Brasil. Mesmo sendo uma alternativa eficaz e comprovada, o ART ainda é pouco explanado pelos programas de saúde pública, fazendo com que os profissionais tenham uma aversão por desconhecerem a aplicabilidade da técnica e sua eficiência.
O termo “Diabetes mellitus” é usado para identificar um grupo de distúrbios caracterizados por níveis elevados de glicose no sangue. Essa elevação é resultado de uma deficiência na secreção de insulina ou de um aumento da resistência celular às ações da insulina, levando a uma variedade de anormalidades metabólicas envolvendo carboidratos, gorduras e proteínas. Diante do exposto, esse estudo objetivou revisar a literatura acerca dos anestésicos locais utilizados na odontologia, destacando informações necessárias quanto à escolha e quantidade de anestésica, prevenindo a ocorrência de complicações. Para a construção deste trabalho foi feito um levantamento bibliográfico nas bases de dados SciVerse Scopus, Scientific Eletronic Library Online (Scielo), U.S. National Library of Medicine (PUBMED) e ScienceDirect, utilizando o gerenciador de referências Mendeley. As principais manifestações orais e complicações relacionadas ao quadro da Diabetes Mellitus envolvem a xerostomia, disgeusia, infecções orais, cárie dentária e doenças periodontais. Também há relatos de lesões na mucosa oral, como estomatite, língua geográfica, glossite migratória benigna, língua fissurada, úlcera traumática, líquen plano, reação liquenóide oral e quelite angular. A prevalência e susceptibilidade de desenvolver essas lesões apresenta-se maiores em pacientes com DM em comparação com aqueles considerados controles. O Diabetes Mellitus é uma doença crônica, não transmissível e endêmica, que resultam em múltiplas complicações, que aumentam a medida quando o controle glicêmico do paciente é inadequado. Assim, médicos e dentistas devem estar atentos às diversas manifestações orais do diabetes para fazer um diagnóstico precoce.
Introdução: A tomografia computadorizada de feixe cônico(TCFC) contempla a avaliação do complexo estilo-hióideo vislumbrando nos planos axial, coronal e reconstrução 3D suas estruturas ósseas, processos de calcificação e relação com as estruturas adjacentes. Objetivo: Relatar um caso clínico com diagnóstico de síndrome de Eagle e côndilo bífido sob a ótica da TCFC. Relato de caso: Paciente do sexo feminino, 34 anos de idade, compareceu ao ortodontista com queixas álgicas envolvendo o terço médio da face e ouvido. No exame clínico intra oral, a paciente apresentava significativa discrepância maxilo-mandibular. Foi encaminhada a clínica de exames de imagens para documentação ortodôntica/cirurgia ortognática. A radiografia panorâmica revelou imagem bifurcada no côndilo mandibular direito, um alongamento significativo do processo estilóide direito e radiopacidade sugestiva de calcificação do ligamento estilohióideo. As imagens tomográficas evidenciaram a presença de uma depressão vertical profunda na superfície condilar superior do lado direito, resultando na aparência de duas cabeças com um contorno em forma de coração quando visualizada no plano frontal. As tomadas tomográficas tiradas de boca aberta e fechada revelaram a orientação médiolateral do côndilo bífido, apresentando maior diâmetro na porção lateral com presença do espaço articular preservado. Observou-se apófises estilóides alongadas com extremidades distais alcançando o plano de C2 e passando pela C3 com 40mm de comprimento se estendendo a partir da superfície inferior do osso temporal, medial e anteriormente ao forame estilomastóideo. Conclusão: Diante do exposto, a correta escolha do método radiográfico associado aos sinais e sintomas do paciente são de relevância para o diagnóstico e plano de tratamento.
Os tumores malignos de cabeça e pescoço compreendem vários tipos de câncer, incluindo principalmente carcinoma de células escamosas e tumores de cavidade nasal , seios da face, glândulas salivares , faringe e laringe. As taxas de sobrevivência de HANC variam dependendo do local do tumor. As taxas de sobrevida em cinco anos variam de 27,8% para câncer de hipofaringe a 67,0% para câncer de glândula salivar. Nesse contexto, este artigo objetivou revisara a literatura acerca dos efeitos da radioterapia sobre as condições bucais de pacientes oncológicos e abordar as estratégias de manejo oral para radioterapia de cabeça e pescoço. Para a construção deste artigo foi feito um levantamento bibliográfico nas bases de dados SciVerse Scopus, Scientific Eletronic Library Online (Scielo), U.S. National Library of Medicine (PUBMED) e ScienceDirect, usando o gerenciador de referências Mendeley. Os artigos foram coletados no período de fevereiro a julho de 2022 e contemplados entre os anos de 2015 a 2022. Os resultados desta pesquisa revelam quatro principais manifestações na região bucal provenientes da radioterapia da cabeça e do pescoço, sendo elas xerostomia, mucosite oral, osteorradionecrose e trismo. Levando em consideração as grandes incidências de CPP, é de extrema importância que os profissionais da saúde estejam familiarizados com as complicações advindas de tratamentos oncológicos.
