Background: Fibroadenomas are quite common benign lesions in the adolescent age group but it is a cause of concern for the individual and the family. These may remain asymptomatic or may present with pain. Aesthetic distortion of the breast symmetry may lead to psychosocial morbidity in adolescent females. The diagnosis is initially made by the ultra sound. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is done in some cases where the underlying pathology is in doubt.
Case presentation: We present a 21 years old young female, university student who reported with complaints of a tender mass in the left breast. Ultrasound (US) of breast showed well circumscribed focus indicating benign nature of the lump. Patient was very anxious. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations proved the lesions as fibroadenomas.
Conclusion: There is always dilemma for the correct evaluation of the breast lumps but with the help of available cross sectional radiological armamentarium, it is possible to come closer to the diagnosis.
Background: Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) also called as bleeding fibroma as this is highly vascular tumor. This is a benign tumor of prepubertal and young adults which is locally aggressive and has got tendency to bleed. The extension of the tumor takes place because of potential available in nasopharyngeal space.
F ungal sinusitis is a rare entity that can affect both healthy and immunocompromised individuals. The diagnosis is not made in the early stages because of concealed symptomatology and not able to undergo cross-sectional imaging investigations. Fungal sinusitis can be presented in different ways as allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS), fungal ball, chronic indolent fungal sinusitis, and invasive variety. Approximately 65% of cases of AFS had an association with asthma.[1] The frequency pattern of involvement is ethmoid, maxillary, frontal, and sphenoid sinuses. The management depends on the correct diagnosis as per radiological evaluation against the use of respective modality. The immunological and histopathological evaluation further adds to the confirmation of the pathology.[2,3] CASE REPORT A 16-year-old boy reported with complaints of nasal blockage, running nose, and anosmia for the past 3 months. He gave a history of off and on fever with a headache for 2 weeks. There was no
Background: Medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS) or shin splints is the result of soft tissue injuries surrounding the tibial shaft. The most common causative factor is that of repetitive trauma while doing exertional exercises and maneuvers. These injuries cause pain in the lower leg and affects the lower part of the tibia shaft. This is frequently encountered in athletes and dancers.
Morel-Lavallee lesion (MLL) entity represents as a haemolymph mass as a result of closed degloving injury following focal trauma. The swelling can be mistaken as a tumor or simple hematoma formation, and it can be of concern as it gradually increases in size. It is important to diagnose the entity promptly as proper management can avoid skin necrosis and further complications. We present a 20-year-old female nursing student who fell down from a scooter and developed painful massive right thigh swelling over a 3-week course following trauma. She underwent plain radiography which was unremarkable. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging revealed the diagnosis of MLL and she was treated accordingly.
