We found that double-crown fixation of intra-peritoneal mesh during laparoscopic ventral hernia repair was quicker, was less painful immediately post-operative and after 3 months, and did not increase the recurrence rate at 24 months. In hernias at a distance from the bony borders of the abdomen, transfascial sutures can be omitted if a double crown of tackers is placed.
The EuraHS-QoL instrument is a short and valid patient-reported outcome measurement following groin hernia repair. Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair with ProGrip laparoscopic, self-fixating mesh results in a favorable outcome and significant improvement of quality of life compared with the preoperative assessment.
A 41-year-old recreational cyclist was referred to our department for an ultrasound examination, because of a nodular swelling in the right perineal region, which he had felt for several weeks. The lesion was painful on palpation, but the overlying skin was normal (Fig. 1). The patient was referred for ultrasound ( Fig. 2) and MRI of the perineum (Fig. 3).Skeletal Radiol (2009) 38:919-920
