We measure the time dependence of the ratio of decay rates for the rare decay D{0}-->K{+}pi{-} to the Cabibbo-favored decay D{0}-->K{-}pi;{+}. A signal of 12.7x10;{3} D{0}-->K{+}pi{-} decays was obtained using the Collider Detector at Fermilab II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron with an integrated luminosity of 1.5 fb;{-1}. We measure the D0-D[over ]{0} mixing parameters (R_{D},y{'},x{'2}), and find that the data are inconsistent with the no-mixing hypothesis with a probability equivalent to 3.8 Gaussian standard deviations.
We report the observation of a narrow state decaying into J/psipi+pi- and produced in 220 pb(-1) of p p-bar collisions at =1.96 Tesqaure root of sV in the CDF II experiment. We observe 730+/-90 decays. The mass is measured to be 3871.3+/-0.7(stat)+/-0.4(syst) MeV/c2, with an observed width consistent with the detector resolution. This is in agreement with the recent observation by the Belle Collaboration of the X(3872) meson.
We have observed bottom-charm mesons via the decay mode B-c(+/-) --> J/psi l(+/-)v in 1.8 TeV p (p) over bar collisions using the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. A fit of background and signal contributions to the J/psi l mass distribution yielded 20.4(-5.5)(+6.2) events from B-c mesons. A fit to the same distribution with background alone was rejected at the level of 4.8 standard deviations. We measured the B-c(+) mass to be 6.40 +/- 0.39(stat) +/- 0.13(syst) GeV/c(2) and the B-c(+) lifetime to be 0.46(-0.16)(+0.18)(stat) +/- 0.03(syst) ps. Our measured yield (production cross section times branching ratio) for B-c(+) --> J/psi l(+)v relative to that for B+ --> J/psi K+ is 0.132(-0.037)(+0.041)(stat) +/- 0.031 (syst)(-0.020)(+0.032)(lifetime)
Evidence is reported for a narrow structure near the J/psivarphi threshold in exclusive B;{+} --> J/psivarphiK;{+} decays produced in p[over]p collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.96 TeV. A signal of 14 +/- 5 events, with statistical significance in excess of 3.8 standard deviations, is observed in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb;{-1}, collected by the CDF II detector. The mass and natural width of the structure are measured to be 4143.0 +/- 2.9(stat) +/- 1.2(syst) MeV/c;{2} and 11.7_{-5.0};{+8.3}(stat) +/- 3.7(syst) MeV/c;{2}.
We have measured the fraction of J/psi mesons originating from chi(c) meson decays in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.8 TeV. The fraction, for P-T/(J/psi) > 4.0 GeV/c and \(eta) over dot(J/psi) < 0.6, not including contributions from b flavored hadrons, is 29.7% +/- 1.7%(stat) +/- 5.7%(syst). We have determined the cross sections for J/psi mesons originating from chi(c) decays and for directly produced J/psi mesons. We have found that direct J/psi production is in excess of the prediction of the color singlet model by the same factor found for direct psi(2S) production
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
