A produção de forragem de melhor qualidade pode ser obtida pela mudança no método de pastejo, de contínuo para rotacionado, associada à prática da adubação, especialmente a nitrogenada. Avaliou-se nas estações chuvosas dos anos 2002/2003 e 2003/2004 o efeito de doses de nitrogênio, N (0, 100, 200 e 300 kg ha-1), na produção de matéria seca e na composição bromatológica (FDA, FDN, hemicelulose, celulose, lignina e proteína bruta) de uma pastagem de capim-braquiária (Urochroa decumbens cv. Basilisk) manejada em pastejo rotacionado. Além disso, foram avaliadas as eficiências de duas fontes de nitrogênio (sulfato de amônio e ureia) e de recuperação do nitrogênio pela pastagem. As doses de nitrogênio, como ureia no primeiro ano e ureia e sulfato de amônio no segundo ano, foram parceladas em aplicações iguais durante a estação chuvosa. Efeitos lineares foram observados para a produção de matéria seca (MS) e o teor de proteína bruta em resposta ao nitrogênio aplicado. Valores da ordem de 18 e 14 kg MS/kg N aplicado foram obtidos no primeiro e segundo ano respectivamente. Para proteína bruta, teores de 9,1 e 11,7% foram observados com a aplicação de 300 kg ha-1 de N, no primeiro e segundo ano, respectivamente, enquanto para a testemunha (0 kg ha-1 de N), os teores encontrados foram 6,6 para o primeiro ano e 7,1% para o segundo ano. Por sua vez, os teores de FDN, FDA, hemicelulose, celulose e lignina não foram afetados pelas doses de nitrogênio. As fontes ureia e sulfato de amônio não diferiram entre si. As eficiências de recuperação de nitrogênio na matéria seca disponível foram de 33,1; 41,7; e 42,2% em resposta às doses 100, 200 e 300 kg ha-1 N, respectivamente, que podem ser consideradas relativamente baixas.
RESUMOQuando se recomenda um número definido de amostras simples de solo para formar uma amostra composta, não se leva em consideração o diâmetro do trado a ser utilizado na amostragem. Visando a determinação do diâmetro de trado que permitisse redução no esforço e no tempo necessários à amostragem, realizou-se um estudo em que foram coletadas amostras simples de solo com seis volumes diferentes (40, 90, 160, 360, 810 e 1.000 cm 3 ), em três situações de preparo-coleta (plantio direto (PD) ou plantio convencional antes (PCAA) ou depois da aração (PCDA)), no intuito de se obter o volume de amostra simples com o qual se estimasse a menor variabilidade das características avaliadas (pH, P, K, Ca 2+ e Mg 2+ ). A estimativa da variabilidade da maioria das características químicas da fertilidade do solo avaliadas foi, de maneira geral, semelhante entre o plantio direto (PD) e o plantio convencional antes da aração (PCAA), sendo maior em ambos os casos do que no plantio convencional depois da aração (PCDA). O aumento do volume das amostras simples, para uma mesma profundidade de coleta, reduziu a estimativa da variabilidade das características químicas da fertilidade avaliadas até valores

Differently of husked ear/husk ratio, the average weights of the husked and unhusked ears and diameter of unhusked ears were affected by N application. It was proposed a table of recommended N doses based on pre-established prices of N and commercial ears.
ResumoObjetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o efeito dos arranjos espaciais no valor nutritivo, produtividade e estrutura do sub-bosque de capim-braquiária em sistema silvipastoril com diferentes tempos de rebrotação (35, 42, 49, 56 e 63). O delineamento foi em blocos casualizados com três repetições em esquema fatorial com parcelas subdivididas 2 × 2 × 5, onde avaliaram-se dois arranjos espaciais [linhas duplas 9 × (2 × 2m) e linha simples (9 × 2m)] e dois locais de amostragem (no centro da entrelinha e sob a copa das árvores) na parcela e cinco tempos de rebrotação (35, 42, 49, 56 e 63 dias) nas subparcelas. Utilizou-se sistema silvipastoril implantado em junho de 2008, em área de pastagem degradada com predominância de Brachiaria decumbens. O pasto foi uniformizado a 15 cm do nível do solo por meio de pastejo. Foram avaliadas a produção de massa seca, relação lâmina colmo, interceptação luminosa e índice de área foliar. Além destas avaliaram-se também as características de valor nutritivo teor de matéria seca, fibra em detergente neutro e ácido, proteína bruta e lignina. Foi realizado o monitoramento da radiação fotossinteticamente utilizando o ceptômetro. O uso de arranjos com linhas simples ou duplas não influenciou o índice de área foliar, a interceptação luminosa e a produção de massa seca. A relação lâmina:colmo foi influenciada pelo local de amostragem somente no arranjo duplo. Os teores de fibra em detergente neutro foram substancialmente maiores no arranjo duplo. Portanto, o uso de linhas duplas de eucalipto implica em redução na quantidade de radiação incidente no sub-bosque, mas não implica em redução da produtividade do pasto em relação ao arranjo simples. Estes resultados indicam que o uso de arranjos duplos pode permitir a colheita de maior quantidade de árvores sem prejudicar a produtividade do pasto.
