We consider the Grover walk model on a connected finite graph with two infinite length tails and we set an ℓ ∞ -infinite external source from one of the tails as the initial state. We show that for any connected internal graph, a stationary state exists, moreover a perfect transmission to the opposite tail always occurs in the long time limit. We also show that the lower bound of the norm of the stationary measure restricted to the internal graph is proportion to the number of edges of this graph. Furthermore when we add more tails (e.g., r-tails) to the internal graph, then we find that from the temporal and spatial global view point, the scattering to each tail in the long time limit coincides with the local one-step scattering manner of the Grover walk at a vertex whose degree is (r + 1). *
We consider crossovers with respect to the weak convergence theorems from a discrete-time quantum walk (DTQW). We show that a continuous-time quantum walk (CTQW) and discrete- and continuous-time random walks can be expressed as DTQWs in some limits. At first we generalize our previous study [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{81}, 062129 (2010)] on the DTQW with position measurements. We show that the position measurements per each step with probability $p \sim 1/n^\beta$ can be evaluated, where $n$ is the final time and $0<\beta<1$. We also give a corresponding continuous-time case. As a consequence, crossovers from the diffusive spreading (random walk) to the ballistic spreading (quantum walk) can be seen as the parameter $\beta$ shifts from 0 to 1 in both discrete- and continuous-time cases of the weak convergence theorems. Secondly, we introduce a new class of the DTQW, in which the absolute value of the diagonal parts of the quantum coin is proportional to a power of the inverse of the final time $n$. This is called a final-time-dependent DTQW (FTD-DTQW). The CTQW is obtained in a limit of the FTD-DTQW. We also obtain the weak convergence theorem for the FTD-DTQW which shows a variety of spreading properties. Finally, we consider the FTD-DTQW with periodic position measurements. This weak convergence theorem gives a phase diagram which maps sufficiently long-time behaviors of the discrete- and continuous-time quantum and random walks.
We connect the Grover walk with sinks to the Grover walk with tails. The survival probability of the Grover walk with sinks in the long time limit is characterized by the centered generalized eigenspace of the Grover walk with tails. The centered eigenspace of the Grover walk is the attractor eigenspace of the Grover walk with sinks. It is described by the persistent eigenspace of the underlying random walk whose support has no overlap to the boundaries of the graph and combinatorial flow in graph theory.
Given two Hilbert spaces, H and K, we introduce an abstract unitary operator U on H and its discriminant T on K induced by a coisometry from H to K and a unitary involution on H. In a particular case, these operators U and T become the evolution operator of the Szegedy walk on a graph, possibly infinite, and the transition probability operator thereon. We show the spectral mapping theorem between U and T via the Joukowsky transform. Using this result, we have completely detemined the spectrum of the Grover walk on the Sierpiński lattice, which is pure point and has a Cantor-like structure.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
