Compared with measurements obtained during cardiac catheterization, velocity-encoded, phase-difference MRI measurements of flow in the proximal great vessels can reliably assess the magnitude of intracardiac left-to-right shunting.
The RICH detectors of the existing HADES spectrometer and CBM experiment (to be built at FAIR) will use 64 channel Multi-Anode PMTs. We designed a complete set of digitizing electronics, consisting of analog and digital front-end modules, power supply and data concentrator cards plugged into a backplane carrying 3 × 2 MAPMTs on the front side, and all readout modules on the backside. These contain all necessary supply electronics, preamplifiers and FPGA-based TDC as well as the digital data and trigger handling logic and an optical transceiver. We present the electronics along with first performance test results.
The HADES collaboration uses the e+e− production as a probe of the resonance matter produced in collisions at incident energies of 1-3.5 GeV/nucleon at GSI. Elementary reactions provide useful references for these studies and give information on resonance Dalitz decays (R→Ne+e−). Such processes are sensitive to the structure of time-like electromagnetic baryon transitions in a kinematic range where (off-shell) vector mesons play a crucial role. Results obtained in proton-proton reactions and in a commissioning pion-beam experiment are reported and prospects for future pion beam experiments and for first hyperon Dalitz decay measurements are described. The connection with the investigations of medium effects to be continued with HADES in the next years at SIS18 and SIS100 is also discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
