We report the synthesis of CdS quantum dots inside 3D hexagonal mesoporous silica films using a very simple chemical route that can be generalized to other II−VI semiconductors. X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy characterizations unambiguously demonstrate that the mesoporous structure allows to control the particle size and the organization of CdS nanoparticles. This leads to the growth of a 3D quantum dot lattice at a large scale.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
